Miami Dolphins in the Community: Halloween Shop with a Fin

Plantation, Fla. – Miami Dolphins alumni Larry Ball, Chris Conlin, Lorenzo Hampton, Tony Nathan, Adewale Ogunleye, Lousaka Polite, Twan Russell, Jed Weaver and Shawn Wooden, cheerleaders Adrianna and Holly and mascot TD invited 50 preselected students from Miami-Dade and Broward County elementary schools to go shopping for Halloween costumes.

The students were selected by their school principals and had the opportunity to shop for their new outfit to wear on October 31.

“The whole ride here the students were so excited,” Madie Ives Elementary Assistant Principal said. “They were screaming, yelling ‘Miami Dolphins.’ They are so happy to be here.”

More than 50 students from Madie Ives Elementary and Peters Elementary feigned as princesses, ninja turtles, firemen and batgirls, pairing with alumni and cheerleaders to canvas the store for their right disguise.

“It’s always a fun time,” Polite said. “The best thing about these kids is they’re really thinking what they want to be. Their imagination is alive. I’m happy that element of their childhood is still alive.”

At the conclusion of the event, the students were treated to Papa John’s Pizza, the official pizza delivery service of the Miami Dolphins.
