Miami Dolphins make roster moves

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have re-signed defensive end Andre Branch and long snapper John Denney. The team has also waived/failed physical safety Isa Abdul-Quddus.

Branch joined the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent from Jacksonville on March 16, 2016. In his first season with the Dolphins, Branch played in all 16 games with 11 starts and set a career high with 49 tackles (27 solo). His 5.5 sacks were second on the team and he added two forced fumbles and one pass defensed. Branch played four seasons (2012-15) with the Jaguars and has totaled 67 games played in his five-year NFL career. He originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick (38th overall) by Jacksonville in the 2012 NFL draft.

Denney has played in a team record 192 consecutive regular season games. The streak is tied for fourth in the NFL among active players and his 192 total games played is fourth in Dolphins history. Denney will play his 13th NFL season in 2017, with all 13 coming in Miami. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Dolphins on April 29, 2005.

Abdul-Quddus played one season for Miami and started 15 games in 2016. He totaled 77 tackles (49 solo), five passes defensed and two interceptions before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 16 at Buffalo. He joined the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent from Detroit on March 11, 2016. Previously, Abdul-Quddus played three seasons with the New Orleans Saints (2011-13) and two with the Lions (2014-15). He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent on July 27, 2011.
