MIAMI DOLPHINS SIGN 2 MORE DRAFT SELECTIONS

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed wide receiver Jakeem Grant and cornerback Jordan Lucas. Both players were selected by the Dolphins last week in the 2016 NFL draft.

Grant was one of Miami’s two sixth-round selections (186th overall). He finished his four-year (2012-15) Texas Tech career as the school’s all-time leading receiver with 3,289 receiving yards. He played in 50 career games with 32 starts and totaled 255 receptions for 3,289 yards (12.9 avg.) and 27 touchdowns. Grant was also the team’s primary kickoff returner during his career, and returned 87 kickoffs for 2,169 yards (24.9 avg.) and four touchdowns. As a senior, he averaged 181.0 all-purpose yards per game, leading the Big 12 and setting a single-season school record. His efforts earned him All-American and first-team All-Big 12 honors.

Lucas was also a sixth-round selection (204th overall) and a four-year lettermen (2012-15) and three-year starter for Penn State, where he played in 46 career games with 33 starts. He started 27 consecutive games before suffering a season-ending injury towards the end of his senior season. Lucas transitioned from cornerback to safety for his senior season and recorded 56 tackles (34 solo), one sack, one forced fumble and three passes defensed in just nine games. He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors at cornerback during his junior season in 2014.
