Miami Dolphins sign Fasano

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed tight end Anthony Fasano.

Fasano returns to Miami where he spent the 2008-12 seasons with the team. The veteran enters his 12th NFL season in 2017 and has totaled 164 games played with 130 starts and has 287 career receptions for 3,171 yards (11.0 avg.) and 35 touchdowns. He also spent time with the Tennessee Titans (2015-16), Kansas City Chiefs (2013-14) and Dallas Cowboys (2006-07) after he originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick (53rd overall) by Dallas in 2006.

Fasano started 76 games for the Dolphins and totaled 177 catches for 2,104 yards (11.9 avg.) and 23 touchdowns. He had a reception in 24 straight games at the end of his first Dolphins tenure. His 177 receptions with the club are third-most in team history among tight ends. He also caught the first touchdown pass of Ryan Tannehill’s career, a 14-yard strike vs. Oakland on Sept. 16, 2012. The team originally acquired Fasano in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys on April 26, 2008.
