MIAMI DOLPHINS SIGN MURPHY TO RESERVE/FUTURE CONTRACT

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced that the team has signed wide receiver Tyler Murphy to a reserve/future contract.

Murphy entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015 and spent a total of four weeks on the Steelers’ 53-man roster. Murphy, who played in two games, recorded one catch for 16 yards in Pittsburgh’s season opener against New England on Sept. 10. He was on the Steelers’ practice squad for the remainder of the season.

Murphy played one season at quarterback for Boston College in 2014. As a graduate transfer, he broke the Atlantic Coast Conference’s single-season record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 1,184, a mark that led the team that season. He earned the Walter Camp Connecticut Player of the Year and All-New England honors. A graduate of the University of Florida, Murphy started six games under center for the Gators in 2013. He was 112-of-185 passing (60.5 percent) for 1,216 yards and six touchdowns as a junior.
