Miami Dolphins sign 2 to practice squad
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton and cornerback Ka’dar Hollman to the practice squad.
Hamilton has played in 46 games with nine starts for Denver from 2018-20. He’s totaled 81 career receptions for 833 yards (10.3 avg.) and five touchdowns, along with one special teams tackle and three miscellaneous stops. Hamilton missed the 2021 season due to injury and spent part of the 2022 offseason program with Houston. He originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (113th overall) by Denver in the 2018 NFL Draft. Hamilton played collegiately at Penn State.
Hollman has played in 18 games with one start for Green Bay from 2019-20. He’s totaled eight tackles (seven solo) and three passes defensed. He also has two special teams tackles. Hollman has spent the past two seasons with several teams, including Houston (2021), New Orleans (2021), the N.Y. Giants (2021), San Francisco (2022) and Atlanta (2022). He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (185th overall) by Green Bay in the 2019 NFL Draft. Hollman played collegiately at Toledo.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have elevated wide receiver Freddie Swain to the active roster for Sunday’s game.
Swain signed to Miami’s practice squad on Sept. 2, 2022. He entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (214th overall) by Seattle in the 2020 NFL Draft and played in 33 games with nine starts over the past two seasons (2020-21) with the Seahawks. Swain has totaled 38 career receptions for 502 yards (13.2 avg.) and five carries for 32 yards (6.4 avg.). He also returned 22 punts for 189 yards (8.6 avg.) and six kickoffs for 137 yards (22.8 avg.). Swain played collegiately at Florida.

Jaelan Phillips Named Miami Dolphins’ nominee for Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced today linebacker Jaelan Phillips as their nominee for the WALTER PAYTON NFL MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD PRESENTED BY NATIONWIDE. Considered one of the league’s most prestigious honors, the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide recognizes an NFL player for outstanding community service activities off the field, as well as excellence on the field. Each of the league’s 32 nominees were announced today.
Since being drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2021, Phillips has sought every opportunity to positively impact the South Florida community and beyond. From working with incarcerated youth to tackling homelessness, cancer and disease awareness, youth mentorship and supporting underserved communities, Phillips’ has set himself apart in just his second season through the inclusivity of his efforts and his intentional investment in marginalized communities and people in need.
He learned about the opportunity to participate in the Dolphins Challenge Cancer event benefitting Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center his rookie year and found inspiration in his family’s own battles with cancer. He signed up for the 100-mile ride, inspiring others to ride and fundraise. He totaled more than $3,000 and became one of the first two players to ever ride the 100-mile. This year, Phillips joined the Dolphins Challenge Cancer executive board. He will again participate in the 100-mile ride while also adding a leadership role in awareness, fundraising and growth of the event. Phillips has also visited Alex’s Place at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to meet pediatric and adult cancer patients, inspired by the direct beneficiaries of DCC funds.
Phillips has also channeled his efforts into The VERB kind, an organization dedicated to the mentorship and empowerment of incarcerated youth. After an initial visit to the Broward Regional Juvenile Detention Center as a rookie, Phillips took on an active role this year by working the recruit mentors and raise funds for programming. Phillips recruited his own teammates as well, bringing the Dolphins 2022 rookie class on two separate visits. He seeks to inspire others to find common ground with these young people and shares his own story of overcoming adversity to encourage them in their own journeys towards a better future.
Phillips has also become a fixture at Lotus House, a women and children’s shelter in the Overtown, Miami neighborhood. Whether speaking to the kids living in the shelter, bonding through sports activities, uplift in the form of Halloween costumes and festivities or Thanksgiving cookie decorating, Phillips has been eager to serve his South Florida neighbors, especially ones so close to his alma mater at the University of Miami.
He has been committed to every team community event and has been an active member of the Social Impact Committee, a coalition founded by the players with goals to bridge the digital divide and serve as role models for South Florida students in the Values Matter program. If there is the opportunity to help someone in need, Phillips will find the resources, energy and opportunity to serve.
As a nominee, Phillips will wear a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year helmet decal through the end of the season in recognition of his accomplishments on and off the field.
All 32 team winners will be highlighted as nominees and recognized for their important work during the weekend leading up to Super Bowl LVII. The 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year will be announced during NFL Honors, a primetime awards special to air the Thursday before Super Bowl LVII, on NBC.
All 32 nominees will receive up to a $40,000 donation in their name to their charity of choice. The winner of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award will receive up to a $250,000 donation to the charity of his choice. All donations are courtesy of the NFL Foundation and Nationwide.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Nationwide’s 8th annual Charity Challenge, a social media campaign designed to support and promote team nominees. Fans can vote on Twitter by using #WPMOYChallenge followed by their favorite nominee’s last name or Twitter handle. The player whose unique mention is used the most between Dec. 6 and Jan. 8 will receive a $25,000 contribution to his charity of choice, while the second and third place finishers will receive $10,000 and $5,000 donations, all courtesy of Nationwide. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed tackle Eric Fisher and placed offensive lineman Austin Jackson on injured reserve.
Fisher is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and 10-year veteran who has played in 132 career games with 128 starts, including 111 at left tackle and 17 at right tackle. He spent eight seasons (2013-20) in Kansas City, where he earned Pro Bowl honors in 2018 and 2020 and helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIV at the end of the 2019 season. Fisher played the 2021 season for Indianapolis, where he started 15 games. He originally entered the NFL as the first overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft with Kansas City following a collegiate career at Central Michigan. Fisher will become the sixth former No. 1 overall pick to play for the Dolphins.

Miami Dolphins make 2 elevations for Sunday’s game
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have elevated offensive lineman James Empey and tackle Kendall Lamm to the active roster for Sunday’s game.
Empey signed with Miami’s practice squad on Sept. 1, 2022. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Dallas on May 13, 2022. Empey played collegiately at BYU where he was a four-year starter (2018-21) and started all 41 games he appeared in. He earned Freshman All-American honors in 2018.
Lamm joined the Dolphins on Nov. 28, 2022 and has played seven NFL seasons for three different franchises – Houston (2015-18), Cleveland (2019-20) and Tennessee (2021). He spent 2022 training camp with Detroit. Lamm has played in 86 career games with 28 starts. He’s also played in seven postseason games with one start as his teams have made the playoffs in five of his seven NFL seasons. Lamm played collegiately at Appalachian State and originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Houston on May 8, 2015.

Miami Dolphins make practice squad moves
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed tackle Kendall Lamm to the practice squad and restored wide receiver Freddie Swain to the practice squad. The team also released offensive lineman Grant Hermanns and wide receiver Calvin Jackson from the practice squad.
Hermanns was signed to Miami’s practice squad on Oct. 26, 2022 after spending the past two seasons on the N.Y. Jets’ practice squad. He was elevated three times by the Jets earlier this season, appearing in two games. Hermanns originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Jets on May 2, 2021. He was a four-year starter (2017-20) at Purdue.
Jackson was signed to Miami’s practice squad on Oct. 25, 2022. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent by the N.Y. Jets on May 9, 2022 and spent the offseason program and training camp with them. Jackson was a second-team All-Pac 12 selection at Washington State in 2021. He is the son of former Dolphins safety Calvin Jackson, who played in 75 games with 57 starts in six seasons (1994-99) with the team. A Fort Lauderdale native, Jackson played high school football at Coral Springs Charter.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed defensive tackle Justin Zimmer.
Zimmer has played in 21 NFL games over four seasons with Atlanta (2018), Cleveland (2019) and Buffalo (2020-21). He’s totaled 34 tackles (17 solo), 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble. He spent several weeks this season on Buffalo’s practice squad. Zimmer originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Buffalo on May 2, 2016. He played collegiately at Ferris State, where he was a teammate of fellow Dolphins defensive tackle Zach Sieler.

Miami Dolphins sign McIntosh to practice squad
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed defensive tackle R.J. McIntosh to the practice squad.
McIntosh spent three seasons (2018-20) with the N.Y. Giants, playing 18 games and recording 18 tackles (10 solo) and 2.0 sacks. He spent part of the 2021 season on Green Bay’s practice squad and was with Indianapolis during the 2022 training camp. McIntosh originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (139th overall) by the Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft. A Fort Lauderdale native, McIntosh played at Cardinal Gibbons High School before a collegiate career at the University of Miami.
