Postgame – Houston

S Eric Rowe

(You put a big hit on the tight end out there today. Can you take me through that play, what you saw?) – “Yeah, it was third down and really just reading the QB. Cover 3 type and he threw the ball and I saw Kader (Kohou) over there. I said ‘you know what, I’m going shoot my shot.’ Kader (Kohou) went low, I just went all in, all body and I didn’t know the ball came out I just felt his body just go up so I was just hype off of that. Then I hear the crowd cheering, and I’m like ‘oh and ball out.’ But that’s what I saw.”

(Did today’s game, did the defense, the way they played especially in the first half, did it feel a lot like you guys had played last year and getting back to that aggressive, get to the quarterback, force turnovers?) – “Yeah, in the first half we we’re playing fast, everybody was having fun, playing physical. That was our goal. To come out and play our standard of ball and unfortunately the second half, it wasn’t the same story. But first half, getting late into the season, that’s how we should be playing as a defense.”

(How much – this so-called “soft part of the schedule” people have been saying – how much does the momentum that you guys as a defense have established the over the past two games, how much does that bode well heading on the road to California against two teams that could be tough?) – “It’s going to be a tough schedule, but we don’t look at it as a soft schedule because the teams bad, because everyone has talent. It’s the NFL so everybody is good. Plus there are not a lot of opportunities in the season. You only get 17 so we can’t just waste one because we think a team is bad. We want to play to our potential so when it gets to December and playoff time we want to be rolling and not trying to catch up to everyone else.

(Do you think the defense’s confidence is higher than it’s been all season?) – “I mean, yeah, each week we’re just building blocks and each week we see each ourselves getting better and better. Obviously you got to keep that trend going.”
