Postgame – Houston

LB Jaelan Phillips

(When the linebackers have a game like they did today where they’re just constantly getting to the quarterback, what does that say about the work you put in to get to this point?) – “I mean, it’s everything. Obviously, that’s all we do is work. So to see the fruits of your labor pay off, that’s everything. But (we’re) far from happy, honestly – we still have more in us. So I’m excited for more opportunities to show that.”

(Is it getting tough to figure out who gets the sack when you guys are all back there at the same time?) – “Hey, everybody eats! That’s not up to us to decide, but you got to celebrate the hardest – that’s usually who gets the sack.”

(You came around one play, the opposite side of the field, to chase down the quarterback, showing off your speed. There’s a lot of speed competition in this team. Are you eager to see what mile per hour you hit on the radar?) – “It was 20 (miles per hour) – it was probably 20 (miles per hour). I hit 21.5 (miles per hour) against Buffalo, but it’s usually not a good thing if the d-linemen are running 20 miles per hour. (laughter) But it’s great. I love my teammates, so I’ll always give my all, every down.”

(What changes in December football?) – “Everybody’s body is kind of breaking down. That’s really where the mental toughness comes in, and obviously with the playoffs looming, everything is more important. Obviously, every game is important, but once you get to crunch time, the pressure starts to pick up a little bit, so it makes it fun. That’s where real football starts.”
