Postgame – Cleveland

RB Patrick Laird (transcribed by Cleveland Browns)

(On the Browns’ personnel adjustments…) – “We studied them schematically and they stuck to their schemes for the most part. When you are watching film and studying personnel, you just have to imagine that the guys who did not play this game are not on the screen and there is going to be someone else. It is the NFL, so there is going to be really good players that are behind them. We just prepare for them schematically. I do not think there was that much of a change.”

(On mid-game adjustments…) – “I think getting behind early, we ended up having to pass the ball more than you would in a close game. Since we were in more passing situations, they were able to dial-up more blitzes. Our offensive line and coaches did a really good job preparing us each week for the different types of blitz looks. We did a decent job of picking up all the blitzes.”

(On if the Browns took the Dolphins out of their game…) – “I think this was a game where we beat ourselves. Obviously, you have to give credit to the Browns, they played a good game. Again, when you go down early, you have to pass the ball more to get back into the game. We did a decent job of that in the second half, but obviously it was not enough.”
