C Ted Karras

(How do you think the offensive line did? It seemed like pass pro was little bit ahead of run blocking today?) – “They have a very unique rush that’s put a lot of us – we have to play our best. I think we did a good job, but obviously not good enough to win. We want to rush the ball a little bit better and hold onto it for our defense a little bit more. (There are) a lot of things we have to work on. We’re going to watch the film and get better.”

(Without the benefit of film review, do you have a sense of how the two rooks did?) – “They did great. I told them I was proud of them. They fought very hard like the rest of us, and it was a game and a hard-fought battle. We just didn’t come out on top today.”

(You talked about wanting to hold onto the football a little more for the defense. What are some things that went into that not happening for you guys today?) – “We’ve got to check the film, but I think just stringing consistent plays together. I gave up a play and some guys gave up a play. We can’t have people – we can’t just go down the line there. I take a lot of responsibility for that. We’re going to get back. I still feel very encouraged and I’m really looking forward to Week 2 here.”

(QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is obviously the emotional and on-the-field leader of this team. When he’s having a bad day like he did today, how do you flip the roles and lift him up?) – “We just went out there and fought. This was a hard-fought NFL game in a very unique situation. I think that it came down to really a couple of big plays. If we could be more consistent probably in the third quarter there, we would’ve had a better shot to end the game victorious.”

(Was there any point before or during the game, that it occurred to you that there were no fans, no crowd noise, that there was fake crowd noise? Was there any moment where anything at all occurred to you about that?) – “I didn’t know it was a touchdown when we scored. I thought that was pretty interesting, but I was glad we punched it in there on the goal line. That was a good little series for us. There was no reaction to anything. I was on the bottom of the pile, so I didn’t know what had happened.”
