DOLPHINS SELECT PENN STATE LB CHOP ROBINSON AT No. 21 OVERALL
Miami selected LB Chop Robinson with their first-round pick at No. 21 overall.
Robinson is the 13th player from Penn State to be drafted by the Dolphins and the third Nittany Lion to be taken in the first round by Miami.
At No. 21 overall, Robinson is the quickest Miami has taken a player from Penn State in any NFL Draft.
The other two Penn State players selected by Miami in the first round were DT Jared Odrick (28th overall) in 2010 and WR O.J. McDuffie (25th overall) in 1993.

ROBINSON IS THE SIXTH LINEBACKER MIAMI HAS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND
Miami’s selection of LB Chop Robinson marks just the sixth time in franchise history the team has picked a linebacker in the first round.
The last time the Dolphins selected a linebacker in the first round was actually their last first-round pick, LB Jaelan Phillips, who was the 18th overall pick out of Miami (FL) in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Dolphins have had success picking first-round linebackers. LB A.J. Duhe was the 13th overall pick in the 1977 NFL Draft and was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year that season and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1984. LB Kim Bokamper was the 19th overall pick in the 1976 NFL Draft and was a Pro Bowl selection in 1979. LB Jaelan Phillips was the 18th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and was selected to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and has 22.0 career sacks in three seasons.

QUICK HITS
This is just the second time the Dolphins have ever picked at No. 21 overall. Miami selected DB Don McNeal at No. 21 overall in the 1980 NFL Draft out of Alabama, who played 10 seasons for the Dolphins from 1980-89.
LB Chop Robinson has ties to several notable Dolphins alumni that are still involved with the team. WR Jimmy Cefalo has been the team’s radio play-by-play voice since 2005 and was drafted by Miami out of Penn State in the 1978 NFL Draft. Robinson joins LB Kim Bokamper as one of six linebackers drafted in the first round by Miami (1976) and has been a sideline reporter on the team’s radio broadcasts since 2012. And WR O.J. McDuffie was the first Penn State player Miami drafted in the first round back in 1993 and co-hosts The Fish Tank podcast on the Miami Dolphins Podcast Network.
