MIAMI TRADES UP WITH PHILADELPHIA TO SELECT RB JAYLEN WRIGHT IN FOURTH ROUND
  • The Dolphins traded a 2025 third-round pick to Philadelphia for the No. 120 overall pick and used that fourth-round pick to select RB Jaylen Wright.
  • Wright is the 16th player all-time to be selected by Miami from the University of Tennessee, but the first in 10 years when Miami picked T Ja’Wuan James in the first round (19th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.
  • Wright is the first running back Miami has ever selected from Tennessee.

  • With Miami’s selection of RB De’Von Achane in the third round (84th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Dolphins have now selected running backs in the top four rounds of back-to-back drafts. The last time Miami did that was 2011-12, when Miami took RB Daniel Thomas in the second round (62nd overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft and RB Lamar Miller in the fourth round (97th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.
DOLPHINS TAKE LB MOHAMED KAMARA IN FIFTH ROUND
  • The Dolphins selected Colorado State LB Mohamed Kamara in the fifth round (158th overall).
  • Kamara is just the third player Miami has drafted from Colorado State and at No. 158, he is the highest-picked Ram in Dolphins history.

MIAMI DRAFTS WR MALIK WASHINGTON AND S PATRICK McMORRIS IN SIXTH ROUND
  • With a pair of sixth-round selections, the Dolphins chose WR Malik Washington at No. 184 overall and S Patrick McMorris at No. 198 overall.
  • WR Malik Washington is just the third player from the University of Virginia to be selected by Miami and the other two went on to have very good rookie seasons for Miami.
  • RB Terry Kirby was a third-round pick (78th overall) in 1993 and his 1,264 scrimmage yards were the most in Dolphins rookie history, while RB/WR Tommy Vigorito was a fifth-round pick (138th overall) in 1981 and named the team’s Outstanding Special Teams player as a rookie that season.

  • Paul is the seventh all-time player from the University of Houston to be drafted by the Dolphins and the first since C Rex Hadnot was a sixth-round selection (174th overall) in 2004.

DOLPHINS SELECT PENN STATE LB CHOP ROBINSON AT No. 21 OVERALL
  • Miami selected LB Chop Robinson with their first-round pick at No. 21 overall.
  • Robinson is the 13th player from Penn State to be drafted by the Dolphins and the third Nittany Lion to be taken in the first round by Miami.
  • At No. 21 overall, Robinson is the quickest Miami has taken a player from Penn State in any NFL Draft.
  • The other two Penn State players selected by Miami in the first round were DT Jared Odrick (28th overall) in 2010 and WR O.J. McDuffie (25th overall) in 1993.

ROBINSON IS THE SIXTH LINEBACKER MIAMI HAS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND
  • Miami’s selection of LB Chop Robinson marks just the sixth time in franchise history the team has picked a linebacker in the first round.
  • The last time the Dolphins selected a linebacker in the first round was actually their last first-round pick, LB Jaelan Phillips, who was the 18th overall pick out of Miami (FL) in the 2021 NFL Draft.
  • The Dolphins have had success picking first-round linebackers. LB A.J. Duhe was the 13th overall pick in the 1977 NFL Draft and was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year that season and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1984. LB Kim Bokamper was the 19th overall pick in the 1976 NFL Draft and was a Pro Bowl selection in 1979. LB Jaelan Phillips was the 18th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and was selected to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and has 22.0 career sacks in three seasons.

  • This is just the second time the Dolphins have ever picked at No. 21 overall. Miami selected DB Don McNeal at No. 21 overall in the 1980 NFL Draft out of Alabama, who played 10 seasons for the Dolphins from 1980-89.
  • LB Chop Robinson has ties to several notable Dolphins alumni that are still involved with the team. WR Jimmy Cefalo has been the team’s radio play-by-play voice since 2005 and was drafted by Miami out of Penn State in the 1978 NFL Draft. Robinson joins LB Kim Bokamper as one of six linebackers drafted in the first round by Miami (1976) and has been a sideline reporter on the team’s radio broadcasts since 2012. And WR O.J. McDuffie was the first Penn State player Miami drafted in the first round back in 1993 and co-hosts The Fish Tank podcast on the Miami Dolphins Podcast Network.
