MIAMI TRADES UP WITH PHILADELPHIA TO SELECT RB JAYLEN WRIGHT IN FOURTH ROUND
  • The Dolphins traded a 2025 third-round pick to Philadelphia for the No. 120 overall pick and used that fourth-round pick to select RB Jaylen Wright.
  • Wright is the 16th player all-time to be selected by Miami from the University of Tennessee, but the first in 10 years when Miami picked T Ja’Wuan James in the first round (19th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.
  • Wright is the first running back Miami has ever selected from Tennessee.

  • WR Malik Washington is just the third player from the University of Virginia to be selected by Miami and the other two went on to have very good rookie seasons for Miami.

  • Miami selected LB Chop Robinson with their first-round pick at No. 21 overall.
  • Robinson is the 13th player from Penn State to be drafted by the Dolphins and the third Nittany Lion to be taken in the first round by Miami.
  • At No. 21 overall, Robinson is the quickest Miami has taken a player from Penn State in any NFL Draft.
  • The other two Penn State players selected by Miami in the first round were DT Jared Odrick (28th overall) in 2010 and WR O.J. McDuffie (25th overall) in 1993.

ROBINSON IS THE SIXTH LINEBACKER MIAMI HAS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND
  • Miami’s selection of LB Chop Robinson marks just the sixth time in franchise history the team has picked a linebacker in the first round.
  • The last time the Dolphins selected a linebacker in the first round was actually their last first-round pick, LB Jaelan Phillips, who was the 18th overall pick out of Miami (FL) in the 2021 NFL Draft.
  • The Dolphins have had success picking first-round linebackers. LB A.J. Duhe was the 13th overall pick in the 1977 NFL Draft and was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year that season and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1984. LB Kim Bokamper was the 19th overall pick in the 1976 NFL Draft and was a Pro Bowl selection in 1979. LB Jaelan Phillips was the 18th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and was selected to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and has 22.0 career sacks in three seasons.

  • This is just the second time the Dolphins have ever picked at No. 21 overall. Miami selected DB Don McNeal at No. 21 overall in the 1980 NFL Draft out of Alabama, who played 10 seasons for the Dolphins from 1980-89.
  • LB Chop Robinson has ties to several notable Dolphins alumni that are still involved with the team. WR Jimmy Cefalo has been the team’s radio play-by-play voice since 2005 and was drafted by Miami out of Penn State in the 1978 NFL Draft.   • The Dolphins selected Michigan T Ryan Hayes in the seventh round with the 238th overall pick.
  • Hayes is Miami’s first draft pick from the University of Michigan since they selected both T Jake Long (1st round, No. 1 overall) and QB Chad Henne (2nd round, No. 57 overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft.

DOLPHINS PICK EZUKANMA IN FOURTH ROUND
  • The Dolphins selected Texas Tech WR Erik Ezukanma in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft at No. 125 overall.
  • Ezukanma is just the second wide receiver drafted by the Dolphins since 2017. Miami picked WR Jaylen Waddle with the sixth overall pick of the draft in 2021.
  • He is just the second Big 12 player drafted by Miami since 2017, joining S Brandon Jones, who was a third-round pick (70th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft and attended Texas.
  • Ezukanma is the sixth player from Texas Tech drafted by the Dolphins and first since WR Jakeem Grant was taken in the sixth round (186th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
  • The most notable Dolphins draft pick from Texas Tech is LB Zach Thomas, who was a fifth-round pick (154th overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft and was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection (1999-2003, 2005-06).
  • At No. 125 overall, Ezukanma is the second-earliest Dolphins pick from Texas Tech ever, behind TE Andre Tillman who went 38th overall in the second round of the 1974 NFL Draft.

DOLPHINS SELECT THOMPSON WITH FINAL PICK
  • The Dolphins took Kansas State QB Skylar Thompson in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft at No. 247 overall.
  • Thompson is just the ninth quarterback drafted by the Dolphins in the past 30 drafts (since 1993) and only the second one picked in the seventh round. Miami drafted QB Brandon Doughty in the seventh round (223rd overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
  • He is the first player from Kansas State drafted by the Dolphins since 2011 when Miami picked RB Daniel Thomas in the second round (62nd overall).
  • Thompson is the fourth player selected by the Dolphins from Kansas State.

DOLPHINS TAKE TINDALL AT NO. 102 OVERALL
  • The Dolphins selected Georgia LB Channing Tindall with their first pick of the 2022 NFL Draft at No. 102 overall in the third round.
  • Tindall becomes the earliest player Miami has selected from Georgia since 1969, when they picked DE Bill Stanfill at No. 11 overall. Stanfill retired following the 1976 season as Miami’s all-time leader in sacks with 69.5, a mark that is third in team history today.
  • He is the first Georgia linebacker the Dolphins have ever drafted.
  • Tindall is the 10th Georgia Bulldog drafted by the Dolphins and first since G Solomon Kindley was picked in the fourth round (111th overall) in 2020.

  • Miami used its first of two seventh-round picks on T Larnel Coleman, who was selected at No. 231 overall.
  • Coleman is the first Dolphins draft pick from UMass in team history. If he plays in a regular-season game, he’ll become just the third player in UMass history to appear with the Dolphins, joining WR Brandon London (2008) and G Josh Samuda (2012).
  • This marks the third consecutive season the Dolphins have drafted multiple offensive linemen in the same draft.
  • The last offensive lineman the Dolphins selected in the seventh round was G Tony Pape in 2004 (221st overall).
DOAKS IS MIAMI’S SECOND SELECTION IN SEVENTH ROUND
  • The Dolphins selected RB Gerrid Doaks with their final pick of the draft at No. 244 overall.
  • Doaks is just the second player in Dolphins history to be selected from Cincinnati, joining LB Brad Jackson, who was a third-round pick (79th overall) in 1998.
  • This marks the fourth consecutive season the Dolphins have drafted a player listed at running back. Miami chose RB Malcolm Perry (seventh round; 246th overall) in 2020, RB Chandler Cox (seventh round; 233rd overall) and RB Myles Gaskin (seventh round; 234th overall) in 2019 and RB Kalen Ballage (131st overall) in 2018.

  • Miami traded a 2021 5th-round pick (156th overall) to Pittsburgh for a 2022 fourth-round pick.
