DOLPHINS TAKE HOLLAND AT NO. 36 OVERALL
  • The Dolphins selected Oregon S Jevon Holland with their first pick in tonight’s second round at No. 36 overall.
  • Holland becomes the second player Miami’s ever selected in that spot, joining WR Fred Solomon, who was the 36th overall pick by Miami in the 1975 draft.
  • At 36th overall, Holland is the highest-drafted safety by Miami since S Jason Allen went to the Dolphins at No. 16 overall in 2006.
  • Holland is just the fourth Oregon Duck selected by Miami in team history.
EICHENBERG IS FIRST NOTRE DAME LINEMAN DRAFTED BY MIAMI SINCE RUDDY
  • With their second-round pick of the evening, Miami selected T Liam Eichenberg at No. 42 overall.
  • Eichenberg joins C Tim Ruddy as the only Notre Dame offensive linemen drafted by the Dolphins. Ruddy was selected in the second round (65th overall) in the 1994 NFL Draft and started 140 games in his 10 seasons (1994-2003) with the Dolphins.
  • He’s the 11th player from Notre Dame drafted by Miami and first since TE Durham Smythe, who was picked in the fourth round (123rd overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

LONG IS MIAMI’S PICK AT No. 81 OVERALL
  • The Dolphins chose TE Hunter Long with their third-round pick (81st overall).
  • Long is Miami’s first selection from Boston College since 1995, when the Dolphins also drafted a tight end in Pete Mitchell, a fourth-round pick (122nd overall).
  • He’s the second-highest drafted player from Boston College in Dolphins history behid only DE John Bosa, who was Miami’s first-round pick (16th overall) in 1987.
  • Long becomes the seventh Boston College player drafted in Dolphins annals.

  • Miami traded a 2021 second-round pick (50th overall) and a 2022 third-round pick to the N.Y. Giants for a 2021 second-round pick (42nd overall) the Dolphins used to select T Liam Eichenberg.
  • The Dolphins have already selected three players who played in the ACC last season in DE Jaelan Phillips (Miami), Eichenberg (Notre Dame) and Long (Boston College). The last time the Dolphins picked three ACC players in the same draft was 1993, when they selected RB Terry Kirby (Virginia) in the third round, S Robert O’Neal (Clemson) in the sixth round and LB David Merritt (North Carolina State) in the seventh round.

DOLPHINS DRAFT ALABAMA PLAYER IN FIRST ROUND FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE SEASON
  • The Dolphins selected WR Jaylen Waddle with the sixth overall pick of the draft.
  • It’s the second consecutive season the Dolphins drafted a player from Alabama in the first round following QB Tua Tagovailoa’s selection at fifth overall in 2020 and the second straight year Miami picked an Alabama player with its first selection in the draft.
  • Miami has drafted three Alabama players in the first round of the past four drafts.

PHILLIPS BECOMES FIRST HURRICANE DRAFTED BY THE DOLPHINS SINCE 2012
  • Miami selected DE Jaelan Phillips with the 18th overall pick of the draft.
  • Phillips is the first player from a Florida college drafted by the Dolphins since 2013, when Miami selected three players from Florida (LB Jelani Jenkins, RB Mike Gillislee and K Caleb Sturgis) in the same draft.
  • He’s the first player from the University of Miami selected by the Dolphins since 2012, when Miami drafted two Hurricanes – DE Olivier Vernon and RB Lamar Miller.
  • Phillips is the second player in Dolphins history to be drafted at No. 18 overall, joining T Austin Jackson, who was the 18th overall pick in last year’s draft.
  • Phillips becomes the 18th Hurricane drafted by the Dolphins. That’s the most draft picks from any school in Dolphins history:
