Miami Dolphins Announce Week Three Youth Programs Awards With Partner Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE)

Miami – The Miami Dolphins and the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE) recognize the week three youth football players, coaches and parent who have demonstrated their commitment to being leaders on and off the field:

  • High School Player of the Week: Hansky Paillant is a junior DT at McArthur High School. He recorded 2 sacks, 11 tackles, 1 pass deflection and recorded a safety for his team in their 24-21 win over South Broward High School. The McArthur Mustangs are currently 4-0.
  • High School Coach of the Week: Matt Dubuc is the head coach at Cardinal Gibbons High School. The Chiefs are currently one of the last unbeaten teams in South Florida, sitting at 4-0 after their 36-7 win over Miami Jackson. Coach Dubuc and his team this year have knocked off some of the top teams in the country.
  • Youth Player of the Week: Yulkeith Brown Jr. from Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner. Yulkeith plays both running back and linebacker for the Liberty City Warriors. Yulkeith had 10 carries for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns last week. He was also a defensive stalwart, racking up 10 solo tackles, 3 tackles for losses and a sack in a 13-0 victory vs. the Gwen Cherry Bulls.
  • Team Mom of the Week: Beth Voss from the Kendall Boys and Girls Club of the Miami Xtreme League. Beth is not only the Head Team mom for the 10 U team, but she is also a team mom for the 13U team. Beth is a registered nurse at Memorial Regional Hospital and serves as the teams’ official health advisor. A stickler for details, Beth meticulously plans and organizes the game day needs of both of her teams and coaches. Coaches stay out of her way, because they know she has everything covered.

Each award recipient will be presented with a plaque on the field during the Sept. 25 Dolphins home game at Hard Rock Stadium against the Cleveland Browns, and receive acknowledgement of their accomplishment in the game program and through the Dolphins’ and RISE’s social media platforms. They also will receive a pair of tickets to a Miami Dolphins home game and a Dolphins/RISE T-shirt.

As a newly added component of the program and part of the Dolphins/RISE partnership, winners will be empowered to make a difference by participating in a RISE training program where they will learn how to use the unifying power of sport to promote the importance and benefits of unity, equality and inclusiveness as well as address racial tensions their teams, schools and communities might experience.

Awardees also will be encouraged to take a pledge, committing to stand up to racial inequality and share how they plan to affect change by creating a “How I RISE” video message, which will be posted on RISEtoWIN.org.
