Miami Dolphins announce 2021 schedule presented by Publix

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced their 2021 schedule presented by Publix. For the first time in team history, the Dolphins will host nine regular-season home games as the NFL expands to a 17-game regular-season schedule in 2021. The home schedule gets underway with a Week 2 matchup against the defending AFC East champion Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.

In addition to the home opener against Buffalo, Miami will host several other premier matchups at Hard Rock Stadium. Three former NFL MVPs will visit Miami Gardens as the Dolphins host Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 24, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in a nationally-televised Thursday Night Football game on Thursday, Nov. 11 and Cam Newton and the New England Patriots in the season finale on Sunday, Jan. 9.

The Dolphins will play seven games against 2020 playoff teams including a home-and-home with Buffalo (Sept. 19 in Miami Gardens and Oct. 31 in Orchard Park, N.Y.). Miami will host home games against Indianapolis (Oct. 3) and Baltimore (Nov. 11), and travel to Tampa to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Oct. 10). The Dolphins will also visit New Orleans (Dec. 27) and Tennessee (Jan. 2).

The Thursday Night Football game against Baltimore will be Miami’s first home TNF game since defeating Buffalo on Nov. 13, 2014. The Dolphins will also play a road prime time game, visiting Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the New Orleans Saints on Monday, Dec. 27. It will be Miami’s first MNF appearance since Oct. 28, 2019 at Pittsburgh.

The Dolphins will return to London for the first time since 2017 when they play the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 17. This will mark Miami’s fifth regular-season game in London, where the Dolphins are 1-3 all-time. The team’s four previous games in London were all at Wembley Stadium. This will be Miami’s first game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which opened in 2019.

Miami faces off against the NFC South with home games against Atlanta (Oct. 24) and Carolina (Nov. 28) and road games at Tampa Bay (Oct. 10) and New Orleans (Dec. 27). It’s the first time the Dolphins have played any of these teams since 2017. With the NFL’s addition of a 17th game, Miami will also host the New York Giants (Dec. 5) out of the NFC East. The Dolphins last played the Giants in 2019 and haven’t hosted them since 2015.

The Week 14 bye will be the latest bye week in franchise history. The Dolphins play consecutive road games just twice (Oct. 10 and Oct. 17; Dec. 27 and Jan. 2) and no more than two road games in a row. Miami has consecutive home games on two occasions (Nov. 7 and Nov. 11) including a three-game homestand with a bye in the middle (Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 18 or 19).

The Dolphins also announced their 2021 preseason schedule. The lone home preseason game will be on Saturday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. vs. Atlanta. Miami will open the preseason on Saturday, Aug. 14 at Chicago and play a nationally-televised preseason game on Sunday, Aug. 29 at Cincinnati.

All games can be heard on Miami’s Sports Radio AM 560 The Joe WQAM, the official flagship radio partner of the franchise, and simulcast on KISS Country 99.9 FM. Fans can also listen to the Dolphins in Spanish on Univision Miami’s WQBA 1140 AM. Preseason games can be seen locally in the Miami-Ft. * Game subject to flexible scheduling in Weeks 5-18

All times EASTERN

“Flexible scheduling” will be used in Weeks 11-18. Additionally, in Weeks 5-10, flexible scheduling may be used in no more than two weeks. In Weeks 5-17, the schedule lists the games tentatively set for Sunday Night Football on NBC. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game would be moved to an afternoon start time.

For Week 18, two Saturday games and the Sunday night game will be announced no later than six days prior to January 9. The schedule does not list Saturday games or a Sunday night game in Week 18, but games with playoff implications will be moved to those time slots.  Flexible scheduling ensures quality matchups in all Sunday time slots in those weeks and gives “surprise” teams a chance to play their way into primetime.

Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday or Monday nights.
