Hard Rock Stadium to host another Clásico, first time rivalry to be played in North America

Miami – Hard Rock Stadium will host bitter rivals Peru and Chile on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 8 p.m. The Peru-Chile match, known as the “Clásico del Pacífico” (Pacific Derby) is considered to be one of the fiercest rivalries in the world of soccer. The rivalry stems from historical politics, border disputes and the War of the Pacific, producing some of the most intense matches in South American footballing history. Peru made its first trip to the World Cup in 36 years. The FIFA World Rankings have Peru ranked 11th in the world and Chile 9th.  

Fans interested in buying tickets may register in advance during the pre-registration period from August 6-12 at HardRockStadium.com. By preregistering, fans will be granted access to buy tickets during a presale on August 13-14. The general public ticket on sale will take place on August 15 starting at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available via Ticketmaster.com with prices starting at $35.

Peru qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1982 by going undefeated in their last eight World Cup Qualifying matches and then defeated New Zealand 2-0 on aggregate in an intercontinental playoff on November 15. Peru finished their group stage matches with an impressive victory over Australia in Group C in Russia. Peru is a young squad led by Paolo Guerrero, Jefferson Farfán, Christian Cueva, Pedro Gallese and Edison Flores.

Chile is the current South American Champions having won the past two Copa America tournaments in 2015 and 2016. Commonly referred to as “ La Roja”, Chile has made 9 World Cup appearances and recently advanced to the finals of the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia. The team’s talented roster includes Alexis Sanchez (Manchester United), Arturo Vidal (Barcelona), Claudio Bravo (Manchester City), Charles Aranguiz (Bayern Leverkusen), and Gary Medel (Besikitas).
