Miami Dolphins Announce Week 14 PlayFootball Award Winners

Miami, FL – The Miami Dolphins announced their PlayFootball Week 14 award winners in a program designed to celebrate youth football in South Florida. For each home game, the Dolphins will identify a high school coach of the week, high school player of the week, youth player of the week and team mom of the week. Award recipients will receive tickets to a Dolphins home game, be presented with a plaque on the field at Hard Rock Stadium and receive acknowledgement of their accomplishment in the game program and through the Dolphins’ social media platforms. The Dolphins also will recognize a team of the week who will be on field during the national anthem.

The program concludes at the Dolphins-Jaguars game where the Dolphins will honor yearly award winners in all categories with the exception of the team of the year.

Week 14 Winners:

  • High School Coach of the Week: Max Edwards from Miami Northwestern. Northwestern defeated Miami Central 19-15 in a closely contested 6A regional final. Miami Central, ranked 18th nationally, came in as the overwhelming favorite in the intense cross town rivalry. The Bulls scored on the final drive by driving the length of the field and scoring the winning touchdown with 37 seconds left on the clock. The Bulls also repeated as Class 6A state champions last weekend, defeating Armwood.
  • High School Player of the Week: Henry Parrish from Columbus High School. Parris rushed for 216 yards and three rushing touchdowns and caught three passes for 27 yards and one touchdown in a 54-28 win over South Dade.
  • Team Mom of the Week: Karen Jackson from the Miami PAL Chiefs 13U of the Miami Xtreme Football League. Jackson has been a valuable asset to her league and team. Since June, she has been in charge of contacting parents, putting together team meals each week and helping distribute uniforms. Before the season began Jason also was there to make sure that all rosters and team books were in order to ensure each child was able to play. She always comes to practice with a smile on her face and is willing to listen and give advice to all her players. Jackson’s team loves her for her selfless attitude and commitment to the team.
  • Team of the Week: Archbishop McCarthy High School.

The Junior Dolphins program encourages youth players and coaches to learn, teach and play football in a fun and safe environment. The Junior Dolphins program is designed to give kids access to learn the fundamentals of football using the NFL’s top resources. To grow the game, the Junior Dolphins program will work to educate coaches, parents and youth on the health and safety of football with a strong emphasis on character development. Junior Dolphins is building the next generation of Dolphins Fans.
