Miami Dolphins FOOTBALL UNITES™ in Collaboration with SAVE Host Champions of Equality Gala at Hard Rock Stadium

Miami – The Miami Dolphins FOOTBALL UNITES™ program in collaboration with SAVE hosted the Champions of Equality Gala at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday, June 14. Distinguished honorees at the event included Miami Beach Commissioner John Aleman, Miami Dolphins Senior Vice President Jason Jenkins, Florida State Representative Javier Fernández, Aryah Lester, Steve Rothaus and Sissy Shute.

“It is only fitting that we host this year’s Champion of Equality Gala at Hard Rock Stadium, the home of the Miami Dolphins through which we have grown an amazing partnership as collaborators of FOOTBALL UNITES™,” SAVE Executive Director Tony Lima said. “On this night we recognize those who have made strides toward equality in the LGBTQ community. The Miami Dolphins are at the forefront of organizations through their exemplary efforts and we are ecstatic to honor them as an Equality Ally.”

SAVE is a community partner of the Miami Dolphins FOOTBALL UNITES™ program and is South Florida’s leading organization dedicated to protecting people of the LGBTQ community against discrimination. Through the FOOTBALL UNITES™ program, the Dolphins are supporting SAVE’s campaign to reduce anti-LGBT prejudice and to identify and build a list of supportive community members.

These efforts and initiatives align with the organization’s goal to level the playing field through the power of teamwork to inspire a healthier, more educated and united South Florida community. Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross and Dolphins players created the FOOTBALL UNITES™ program as a way to bring positive social change. The Miami Dolphins organization believes it is important to be inclusive of the diversity and aware of the intersections that make up South Florida, uniting groups of different races, genders, sexual orientations, identities, abilities and faiths around the power of football. These programs connect to the NFL’s Inspire Change platform, showcasing the collaborative efforts of players, owners and the league to create positive change in communities across the country and work with RISE – the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality – to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations.
