Miami Dolphins make roster moves

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed quarterback David Fales and released cornerback Byron Maxwell.

Fales spent the offseason and training camp with the Dolphins before he was waived on Sept. 2, 2017. In the preseason, he completed 27-of-55 passes (49.1 pct.) for five touchdowns and one touchdown, posting a quarterback rating of 97.8. Fales played in one game with Chicago in 2016 and spent time on Baltimore’s practice squad that year. He was also on Chicago’s practice squad and active roster in 2014 and 2015. Fales originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection (183rd overall) by Chicago in the 2014 NFL draft.

Maxwell started two games this season and was inactive for four others. He recorded eight solo tackles and forced one fumble. In 2016, Maxwell started 13 games, did not play one contest and was inactive for two others. He totaled 53 tackles (43 solo), two interceptions, 15 passes defensed and four forced fumbles. He was acquired by the Dolphins in a trade with Philadelphia on March 9, 2016 and originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection (173rd overall) by Seattle in the 2011 NFL draft.
