Miami Dolphins trade for Hayes

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have acquired defensive end William Hayes and a seventh-round pick (223rd overall) in the 2017 NFL draft from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for the Dolphins’ sixth-round pick (206th overall) in the 2017 NFL draft.

Hayes has played nine NFL seasons and totaled 124 games played with 46 starts in four years with the Tennessee Titans (2008-11) and five with the Los Angeles Rams (2012-16). He totaled 313 tackles (227 solo) with 34.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. Hayes missed just four total games in the past five seasons. He started a career-high 14 contests for the Rams in 2016 and totaled 43 tackles (31 solo) and five sacks. He originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (103rd overall) by the Titans in the 2008 NFL draft.
