Miami Dolphins Select Five Participants In Buenos Aires Audition For Cheerleader Finals in Miami
Buenos Aires, Argentina – The Miami Dolphins selected five ladies from the Buenos Aires cheerleader auditions to participate in the Miami Finals. More than 100 registrants came from all over Argentina to participate in the NFL’s first international cheerleader audition. The finalists are Aldana, Agustina, Josefina, Romina and Yosy.
These ladies will join other finalists from cheerleader auditions in Bogota, Colombia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Mexico City, Mexico and Miami to participate in the Finals on May 1.
Auditions will continue next in Mexico City on Saturday, March 12 at Universidad la Salle. The following are the dates and locations for auditions:

MIAMI DOLPHINS MAKE ROSTER MOVES
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced the team has restructured the contracts of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and linebacker Koa Misi and tendered six exclusive rights free agents – safety Shamiel Gary, wide receiver Matt Hazel, tackle Ulrick John, cornerback Tyler Patmon, tight end Jake Stoneburner and safety Michael Thomas. The team has also released wide receiver Greg Jennings.
Gary played in six games and started one for Miami in 2015. He totaled 10 tackles (seven solo) and one special teams stop. He made his first NFL start vs. New England on Jan. 3, 2016 and recorded one tackle in the victory. Gary was activated from the Dolphins’ practice squad on Nov. 28, 2015 and spent the 2015 offseason and training camp on Miami’s roster. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Patriots on May 12, 2014.
Hazel was a sixth-round selection (190th overall) by Miami in the 2014 NFL draft and spent most of the 2014 season on the Dolphins’ practice squad before earning a spot on the active roster for the entire 2015 campaign. He played in five games last season, registering one start.
John was signed by Miami on Nov. 2, 2015 from the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad. He played in two games for the Dolphins, including Miami’s 20-10 win over New England on Jan. 3, 2016. He entered the league as a seventh-round draft pick (232nd overall) by Indianapolis in 2014.
Patmon played two games for Miami in 2015 after he was signed off the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad on Dec. 26. He also played in 11 games for the Cowboys in 2015 and started two, including Dallas’ Nov. 22, 2015 matchup at Miami. He totaled 13 tackles (11 solo) and six passes defensed. Patmon played in 11 games and both playoff contests for the Cowboys in 2014. On Nov. 2, 2014 against the Arizona Cardinals, Patmon returned his first career interception 58 yards for a touchdown. He entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Cowboys on May 21, 2014.
Stoneburner played in 11 games and started one for Miami in 2015. He totaled five receptions for 47 yards (9.4 avg.) and two touchdowns, including his first career score on Sept. 20, 2015 at Jacksonville. Stoneburner originally joined the Dolphins on Nov. 3, 2014 when he was signed to Miami’s practice squad. He was signed to Miami’s active roster on Sept. 14, 2015 where he remained for the rest of the season. Stoneburner originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Green Bay Packers on May 10, 2013.
Thomas has played in 27 career games and made 15 starts during his three-year tenure (2013-15) with Miami. The Stanford product played in all 16 games in 2015 and started 13 of them, totaling a career-high 71 tackles (56 solo). He made six tackles (five solo) and had one pass defensed in the season-ending victory against New England on Jan. 3, 2016. Thomas was signed off San Francisco’s practice squad on Dec. 10, 2013 and was re-signed by the Dolphins on April 1, 2015. He originally entered the league as an undrafted college free agent with the 49ers on May 4, 2012.
Jennings played in all 16 games for the Dolphins in 2015 and totaled 19 receptions for 208 yards (10.9 avg.) and one touchdown. He was signed by the team on April 23, 2015. During his 10-year NFL career, Jennings has played 143 games and started 119 of them for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and Miami. He has caught 571 career passes for 8,291 yards (14.5 avg.) and 64 touchdowns. Jennings entered the league as a second-round pick (52nd overall) by Green Bay in the 2006 NFL draft.

Miami Dolphins Host Girls High School Flag Jamboree
Davie, FL – Miami Dolphins Youth Programs, in partnership with the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC) and the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA), hosted the Girls Flag Football Jamboree today at the Doctors Hospital Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University.
“It was great to see the high level of athleticism and passion for the sport at the jamboree today,” said Troy Drayton, Manager of Youth and Community Affairs. “These girls came to play.”
The jamboree featured high school girls flag football teams from the South Florida area. This year, nearly 650 girls teams and 28 teams participated in the jamboree.
“Giving these girls an opportunity to come in the Bubble, to watch the excitement on the girls faces and the enthusiasm they have when they come to play is one of the best parts,” said Rocky Gillis, County Athletic Director (BCAA). “It’s amazing to watch some of the athleticism the girls have on display. A lot of people don’t think of the game in that way, and when they come out they are fascinated once they get the opportunity to watch them.”
The goal of this event was to promote high school football. The Miami Dolphins Youth Programs’ mission is to emphasize the importance of education, physical fitness and positive choices for kids in a safe and fun environment.
“It gives a chance for the girls to come out and play,” said West Broward Coach Kelly Calderon. “This is the first game of the season, so it was an eye opener for them and for us coaches. The facilities are beautiful. It’s a great opportunity to see the other schools as well.”
“My favorite part of the jamboree was watching all the teams that we are possibly going to play this year and seeing how many girls are excited about the sport,” added Miami Jackson Head Coach Lakatriona Brunson, who participated in the event for the first time along with Miami-Dade schools Coral Park, Miami Central and Miami Edison.
The Miami Dolphins Youth Programs’ vision is to prepare the next generation of leaders in staying physically active through our Junior Training Camps (JTC), Youth Football Clinics and Youth Football Camps in the South Florida Community.

MIAMI DOLPHINS PLACE TRANSITION TAG ON VERNON
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins have placed the transition tag on defensive end Olivier Vernon, the team announced today.
Vernon has spent all four years of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins after the team selected him in the third round (72nd overall) in the 2012 NFL draft. Vernon has played in 64 games and made 46 career starts, including every game in each of the past two seasons. He has totaled 187 tackles (135 solo), 29 sacks, 74 quarterback hits and 43 tackles for loss.
Over the past three seasons, Vernon ranks tied for 18th in the NFL with 25.5 total sacks. He led the team in sacks (7.5) and quarterback hits (36) in 2015.
Vernon played collegiately at the University of Miami where he saw action in 30 games with 16 starts. He recorded 81 tackles (51 solo) with nine sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss. Born and raised in Miami, Vernon graduated from American High School.

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced that the team has signed defensive lineman Cleyon Laing to a free agent contract.
Laing comes to the Dolphins from the Canadian Football League where he played for the Toronto Argonauts. He spent three seasons with the Argos, totaling 71 tackles and 15 sacks in 35 career games. He entered the CFL as the ninth overall pick in the 2012 CFL Draft.
An Edmonton, Alberta native, Laing lettered four seasons at Iowa State and played 39 games. He totaled 71 tackles and six tackles for loss during his career. Laing posted his best collegiate season as a senior in 2012 when he started all 13 games and tallied 42 tackles and a team-leading three sacks.

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced that the team has waived cornerback Dax Swanson.
Swanson entered the league as an undrafted college free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2013 and spent time with five different teams before the Dolphins signed him to their practice squad on Dec. 9, 2015. Miami signed him to a reserve/futures contract on Jan. 5, 2016.
A native of Waco, Texas, Swanson finished his collegiate career as Sam Houston State’s all-time career leader with 14 interceptions. He earned third team All-American honors in 2011 and was a two-time All-Southland Conference selection.

Dolphins Cancer Challenge VI Caps Successful Event To Raise Funds for Cancer Research
Miami, FL – The Miami Dolphins capped another successful Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) today. The sixth edition of this annual community endeavor boasted more than 3,300 cancer fighters who biked, ran, walked, volunteered and donated throughout all of South Florida with a goal to tackle cancer. The event culminated with a Concert Celebration presented by Pepsi at the stadium on the Hard Rock Stage by Grammy Award winners Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge.
“The Dolphins Cancer Challenge is about everyone working together to fight cancer,” Miami Dolphins President & CEO and DCC VI Chair Tom Garfinkel said. “100 percent of participant fundraising goes directly to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center for essential cancer research that changes lives.”
Participants in 2016 had the option of six bike routes, the 5k run/walk and attending the Concert Celebration presented by Pepsi. The DCC continues to solidify its position as the largest event fundraiser in the NFL. Participants included Grand Marshals and Dolphins Executive Vice President of Football Operations Mike Tannenbaum and Head Coach Adam Gase, as well as Dolphins players and alumni such as Dan Marino, Nat Moore, Dick Anderson, A.J. Duhe, Kim Bokamper, Chris Conlin, John Offerdahl, Mark Duper, Michael Thomas and Ndamukong Suh.
“We are tremendously grateful to everyone who participated in the Dolphins Cancer Challenge today,” Sylvester Director Stephen D. Nimer, M.D. said. “We are so excited the community has embraced and supported this remarkable event to raise critical funds for cancer research at Sylvester. Finding new treatments and cures for cancer is a challenging task and every dollar makes a difference in helping us to develop more pinpoint diagnostic tests and targeted treatments.”
The Dolphins Cancer Challenge will donate 100 percent of the participant-raised funds to innovative cancer research at Sylvester. Funds are still being collected through March 31, 2016. As the DCC’s beneficiary, the University of Miami had a team of more than 800 participants which included Head Football Coach Mark Richt to kick off the Hurricanes Hundred loop.
For the first time, the DCC ended with a Concert Celebration presented by Pepsi at the AutoNation Finish Line with artists Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge performing in front of a crowd of more than 5,000.
“It was an honor to play in front of thousands of cancer fighters today,” Grammy-Award winner Sheryl Crow said. “The electric atmosphere at the stadium, surrounded by people all united for one cause – what an amazing day.”
The Dolphins Cancer Challenge will continue raising funds for cancer research with its inaugural DCC Celebrity Golf Tournament hosted by Turnberry Isle Resort & Golf Club on April 4, 2016. Co-Chaired by Don Soffer and James Caan, the tournament will offer cancer fighters a chance to golf and interact with athletes and other celebrity guests. One hundred percent of the funds raised from the golf tournament will benefit Sylvester.

MIAMI DOLPHINS SIGN TWO TO FREE AGENT CONTRACTS
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced that the team has signed cornerback Chimdi Chekwa and wide receiver A.J. Cruz to free agent contracts.
Chekwa played four seasons (2011-14) for the Oakland Raiders and appeared in 32 games with four starts. He totaled 32 tackles (28 solo), four passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Chekwa was signed by New England as an unrestricted free agent in 2015 and later signed with the Raiders again before training camp but did not participate in any games. He entered the league as a fourth round (113th overall) draft choice by the Raiders in 2011 out of Ohio State, where he was a first team All-American as a senior.
Cruz originally entered the NFL with the Chicago Bears when he signed a free agent contract on July 28, 2015. He was waived by the team after the final preseason game. He played the past two seasons in the Arena Football League where he led the league in kickoff return average both seasons as a member of the Arizona Rattlers in 2015 and the LA KISS in 2014. In 2015, Cruz caught 27 passes for 220 yards (8.1 avg.) and five touchdowns and rushed 11 times for 46 yards (4.2 avg.) and three scores. On defense, Cruz totaled 57 tackles (34 solo), six pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He also returned 51 kickoffs for 1,221 yards (23.9 avg.) and six touchdowns. As an AFL rookie in 2014, Cruz led the league in kickoff return average (22.5) with 58 returns for 1,305 yards.
