Miami Dolphins sign Escobar
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed tight end Gavin Escobar.
Escobar has played in 64 games with seven starts during his NFL career. He has 30 career receptions for 333 yards (11.1 avg.) and eight touchdowns. Escobar played in 62 games for the Dallas Cowboys (2013-16) and two contests for the Baltimore Ravens (2017). He also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs (2017) and Cleveland Browns (2018). Escobar appeared in three playoff games during his tenure in Dallas but did not record any statistics.

Miami Dolphins Host More Than 600 Participants at Third Annual Coaches Clinic
Miami, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today hosted more than 600 local youth and high school coaches and parents at the third annual Coaches Clinic at Hard Rock Stadium. The Miami Dolphins coaching staff as well as coaches from the University of Miami, Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University taught 30 different classroom and on-field sessions focusing on game and practice techniques, motivational tools and core football competencies. Dolphins Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Darren Rizzi welcomed the participants prior to the breakout sessions.
“It’s just (about) giving back to the community. To see how much football means to this community, whether it’s youth football, high school, college, all these people are here to learn,” said Rizzi. “It’s important for us as coaches to give back and give our knowledge back to the community as well. I think it’s awesome; the turnout is great.”
Also on hand to present about concussion education was Gillian Hotz, Ph.D., Director of the University of Miami Sports Medicine Institute’s concussion program. In 2017, the Miami Dolphins Foundation partnered with the University of Miami Sports Medicine Institute and KiDZ Neuroscience Center at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis to sponsor The University of Miami Countywide Concussion Care High School Program, which performs baseline concussion testing for all high school athletes at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Additionally, Tod Creneti from the Positive Coaching Alliance offered presentations on how to be a more effective coach and encourage young athletes.

Dolphins Cancer Challenge Hosts Successful Third Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament at Turnberry Isle Miami
Aventura, FL – The Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) today hosted the third annual DCC Celebrity Golf Tournament at Turnberry Isle Miami’s two 18-hole championship courses with partners BBVA Compass and the presenting partner of the tournament, Turnberry Isle Miami. The tournament offered cancer fighters a chance to golf and interact with athletes and other celebrity guests. Funds raised from the golf tournament will benefit Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University of Miami Health System. This year marked the largest participation for the sold-out event.
“It has been a privilege to watch this event grow through the years as the culmination of a successful DCC campaign. Today’s golfers, along with participants from our February signature events, concert goers and kids at our Family Fest – together as cancer fighters we are raising the funds needed for critical cancer research and innovative therapies right here in South Florida,” DCC Chair and Miami Dolphins Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Chris Clements said.
The participants teed off for a round of scramble-golf on the world-famous Soffer and Miller Courses with Dolphins players Chase Allen, Jake Brendel, Jesse Davis, Kenyan Drake, Davon Godchaux, Matt Haack, Xavien Howard, Ja’Wuan James, Reshad Jones, Bobby McCain, Drew Morgan, Eric Smith, Vincent Taylor and Sam Young, Dolphins coaches Charlie Bullen, Frank Bush, Brian Fleury and Rusty McKinney, as well as alumni Dick Anderson, Ronnie Brown, Troy Drayton, Darryl Fullington, Bob Greise, Nat Moore, Bryant Salter and Darryl Williams.
They were joined by Florida Panthers player Michael Matheson, Miami Marlins alumni Placido Polanco and Charles Johnson, University of Miami alumni Brett Romberg, Lamar Thomas and Gino Torretta, ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, former NFLers Cornelius Bennett and John Harrison and former NHLer Ed Jovanovski.
Golfers were treated to exceptional food and beverage at Bourbon Steak and finished the day with a VIP reception.

Miami Dolphins announce 2018 preseason schedule
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins will kick off the 2018 preseason at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is the first time Miami has met Tampa Bay in the preseason since 2015, after playing the Buccaneers in the preseason every year from 2000-15. The Dolphins will also host Baltimore in Week 3 of the preseason and have trips scheduled to Carolina in Week 2 and Atlanta in Week 4.
Miami will open its preseason schedule at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 1 (Aug. 9-13) when it hosts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This will be the 31st preseason meeting between the two teams and Miami holds a 17-13 edge in the all-time preseason series.
The Dolphins will make their first roadtrip of the year when they travel to play the Carolina Panthers for their second preseason game in Week 2 (Aug. 16-20). The Dolphins are 2-3 all-time in preseason games against the Panthers. Miami played at Carolina in the 2017 regular season and also in the 2015 preseason, falling in both contests.
Miami returns to Hard Rock Stadium in Week 3 (Aug. 23-26) to host the Baltimore Ravens. Prior to 2017, the two teams had never played each other in a preseason game but will now meet for the second time in as many years after Baltimore took a 31-7 decision at Hard Rock Stadium last year.
The preseason concludes in Week 4 (Aug. 30-31) as Miami plays at Atlanta. The Dolphins are 7-8 all-time against the Falcons in preseason contests. This will be the fourth consecutive year the two teams meet in the preseason. The Dolphins traveled to Atlanta during the 2017 regular season, where they posted a 20-17 come-from-behind victory.
WFOR-TV CBS4, will once again be the preseason television home of Dolphins football and the official home of the Miami Dolphins in South Florida. All four games will be shown on the CBS station in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market. The games can be heard on Miami’s Sportsradio 560 WQAM, the official flagship radio partner of the franchise, and simulcast on KISS 99.9 FM. Fans can also listen to the Dolphins in Spanish on Univision Deportes Radio WQBA 1140 AM.

Miami Dolphins sign Garvin
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed linebacker Terence Garvin.
Garvin has played five NFL seasons with Pittsburgh (2013-15), Washington (2016) and Seattle (2017). He’s totaled 74 games played with four starts and tallied 27 tackles (17 solo), 1.5 sacks and one pass defensed on defense. Garvin has also totaled 49 tackles (37 solo) and one forced fumble on special teams. He played in three playoff games for Pittsburgh during the 2014-15 seasons.
Garvin played the 2017 season with Seattle, where he appeared in 15 games with three starts and totaled 17 tackles (nine solo), one sack and one pass defensed. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Pittsburgh on May 6, 2013.

Miami Dolphins Continue Hurricane Rebuilding Efforts in the Florida Keys Building a New Playground with KaBOOM! Designed By Children at Ocean Studies Charter
Tavernier, FL — Miami Dolphins Tackle Eric Smith, alumni Troy Drayton and Nat Moore, Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders Adrianna, Agustina, Ally, Amina, Brittany, Jamie, Jennifer, Katie, Rachel, Tamara and Terra, mascot T.D., Ocean Studies Charter School and 200 community volunteers joined KaBOOM! to transform an empty site into a kid-designed, state-of-the-art playground at Ocean Studies Charter School.
Ocean Studies Charter School was without a playground as the previous playground was removed due to safety concerns. Not only did Hurricane Irma halt the school’s efforts to raise money for a new playground, it also closed playgrounds across the Keys.
In February, kids from Ocean Studies Charter School came together to draw their dream playground. The playground is based off their drawings and together with Ocean Studies Charter School, the Miami Dolphins and KaBOOM! more than 100 kids will have a safe space to stay active.
“We are so thrilled to have this amazing opportunity. Play is so vital to children’s development and our children love to play,” Ocean Studies Principal Abbie Freeman said. “The Miami Dolphins and KaBOOM! have built their dream and we are so grateful.”
This is a continuation of the Miami Dolphins hurricane relief efforts following the devastation of Hurricane Irma. The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders photographed their Annual throughout the Florida Keys and Miami, and proceeds from the 100-page book filled with beautiful and iconic images benefit rebuilding efforts in the Keys and all affected areas from Hurricane Irma through the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
“In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, our Owner Stephen Ross and the Dolphins organization pledged $1 million dollars for relief recovery and rebuild — we were going to be there for the long-term rebuild in communities. And this project 7 months later is a part of that commitment,” Miami Dolphins Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Jehn said. “The Miami Dolphins Foundation is dedicated to honoring our proud winning tradition by being off the field community champions. We want our community to know that it can count on the Dolphins to be there, especially in times of need.”
This playground is one of several to be built in 2018 across the state of Florida serving Irma impacted communities. It will be the second build led by the Miami Dolphins.

Miami Dolphins make roster moves
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed tackle Roubbens Joseph and waived quarterback Brandon Doughty.
Joseph spent the 2017 offseason and training camp with Baltimore after he was signed as an undrafted college free agent on May 15, 2017. He played collegiately at Buffalo, where he played in 20 games with 15 starts from 2015-16. He started all 12 games at left tackle as a senior in 2016.
Doughty was a seventh-round pick (223rd overall) by Miami in the 2016 NFL draft. He spent the entire 2017 season on the practice squad. In 2016, Doughty was inactive for one game before spending the remainder of the year on the team’s practice squad. He was a three-year starter (2013-15) at Western Kentucky and is a Davie, Florida native.
