The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders captured images on board the stunning cruise ship and in the beautiful eastern Caribbean
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (May 22, 2018) – The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, one of the most beloved cheer organizations in the National Football League, have officially wrapped up their 2018 annual photo shoot, featuring MSC Cruises’ newest megaship, MSC Seaside, as the backdrop. More than 20 of the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders sailed the sunny Caribbean this May, donning lifestyle, fitness, swim and vacation-wear while capturing the ship’s iconic and industry-first design. The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders Annual is set to be released at the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders Fashion Show in Fall 2018.

While in port, the Cheerleaders experienced the bustling eastern Caribbean destinations of Philipsburg, St. Maarten, San Juan, Puerto Rico and Nassau, Bahamas. Touring each of the cities and interacting with locals, the cheerleaders captured hotspots like the lush El Yunque Forest and historic Old San Juan in Puerto Rico; popular beaches such as Baie Rouge and the downtown shopping area of St. Maarten; and the picturesque Balmoral Island near Nassau, to name a few.

Beyond wrapping their annual photo shoot on board, the Cheerleaders also interacted with guests during a variety of engaging activities throughout the cruise. The sailing kicked off with a warm Miami Dolphins welcome with the cheerleaders and mascot “TD” taking over the terminal to cheer guests into their vacation. On board, cruisers and cheerleaders mingled with activities like the sail away party, multiple youth cheer clinics, photo opportunities and special performances to entertain guests.
The Cheerleaders’ annual photoshoot on board MSC Seaside came on the heels of the Miami Dolphins’ first ever Fan Cruise on board MSC Seaside in March. The cruise welcomed football legends like Kim Bokamper, Terry Kirby, Sam Madison, Nat Moore, Joe Rose and Patrick Surtain, for a week of themed activities. For Dol-fans still eager to get up close and personal with these Dolphins alumni, the team will host its second cruise in 2019.
The Miami Dolphins Fan Cruise is the result of a three-year, one-of-a-kind partnership between MSC Cruises and the world-renowned NFL team. The themed Fan Cruise will be hosted annually over the next three years, introducing exciting activities and opportunities to interact with the Dolphins’ alumni in person.

5000 Role Models of Excellence Foundation and Miami Dolphins Team to Host Prestigious Annual Academic Signing Ceremony at Hard Rock Stadium
MIAMI – The 5000 Role Models of Excellence Foundation and Miami Dolphins hosted the Prestigious Annual Academic Signing Ceremony on Friday, May 18, 2018. Fifty-eight (58) Wilson Scholars signed scholarships to the colleges and universities of their choice.
The program’s founder, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (D-FL 24), shared, “When you look around, you will see that the 5000 Role Models is multicultural, multiethnic and the audience is. So it brings the boys together in their brotherhood. They’re part of the brotherhood. … We’re so proud to be partners with Mr. Ross. He has stepped forward to let us know that he cares about the community, and especially he cares about the children in our community.” The program has awarded millions of dollars in scholarships since its founding in 1993.
The event is one of two cornerstones of a long-term partnership with the Miami Dolphins, centering on social justice, education and police and youth relations. The second signature event is the Miami Dolphins and 5000 Role Models Police and Youth Conference, held this year in February 2018. In addition, the Dolphins will continue preexisting programs with the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project and amplify new events. In all, these social justice community initiatives will impact more than 10,000 Role Models.
“The Miami Dolphins have a strong commitment to education and we’re honored to be part of this event with the 5000 Roles Models of Excellence Project to celebrate and recognize our South Florida youth,” Miami Dolphins Senior Vice President of Communications & Community Affairs Jason Jenkins said. “We have a strong commitment and investment from our organization, led by Stephen Ross, to leveling the playing field in our community and look forward to following these young men’s growth as they take the next step to college.”
The Wilson Scholars wore their custom suits and signature neckties donated by Sean John and during the event, they received new laptops.

Miami Dolphins and United Way of Broward County Celebrate Local Students’ Engagement in Digital Character Education Program
Coral Springs, FL (May 15th, 2018) – The Miami Dolphins rookies, United Way of Broward County and educators from Forest Glen Middle School today recognized middle school students active in the Character PlaybookTM program, an education initiative focused on youth character development and building healthy relationships. Character PlaybookTM is the latest innovation in the more than 40-year partnership between the NFL and United Way. The Miami Dolphins and United Way of Broward County bring this web-based program to schools throughout Broward County, and have reached more than 2,700 students in almost 50 schools since the program’s inception in spring 2016.
Students at Forest Glen Middle School received certificates today for their outstanding work within the program. The event featured remarks from students, administration and United Way of Broward County Director of Educational Initiatives Robin Molan. Students also enjoyed a panel led by Miami Dolphins players Johnathan Alston, Cornell Armstrong, Jerome Baker, Kaylen Ballage, Cayson Collins, Jalen Davis, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Mike Gesicki, Lucas Gravelle, Connor Hilland, Buddy Howell, Greg Joseph, Claudy Mathieu, Mike McCray, Anthony Moten, Jamiyus Pittman, Quentin Poling, Quincy Redmon, Jason Sanders, Durham Smythe and David Steinmetz to discuss character development and decision-making.
“United Way of Broward County is proud to partner with the NFL for the Character Playbook program,” said Kathleen Cannon, President and CEO United Way of Broward County. “This initiative is vital for children in our community to develop applicable life skills as well as provide them with the tools needed to establish healthy relationships during an important time in their life.”
“Community is important because community helped me get through what I went through when I was younger, when I was these kids’ age – when I was exactly these kids’ age,” Miami Dolphins first-round draft pick and S Minkah Fitzpatrick said. “Just teaching them about community, about character. They can take something real small from me and just apply it.”
The Character PlaybookTM initiative was launched nationally during the 2016 NFL Draft and is powered by education technology leader EverFi, which works with more than 20,000 K-12 schools. Character PlaybookTM modules are designed to help students develop healthy relationships and social norms. The program will be evaluated by measuring student knowledge gains as well as attitude and behavioral change.
“I am so proud of the work that Mrs. Meyer and the students put into learning and applying the Character Playbook program. This course aided our teachers in developing their Peer Counseling curriculum,” said Ronald Forsman, Forest Glen Middle School Principal. “Character Playbook is instrumental in the Social and Emotional Learning of the students who completed the program, and as a result has impacted their peers as well. On behalf of everyone at Forest Glen, we are grateful for the partnership with the Miami Dolphins and United Way of Broward County. A winning collaboration making a difference in the lives our students.”

Miami Dolphins sign 13 undrafted free agents
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed the following 13 undrafted college free agents: North Carolina State cornerback Johnathan Alston, North Carolina linebacker Cayson Collins, Utah State cornerback Jalen Davis, TCU long snapper Lucas Gravelle, William & Mary center Connor Hilland, FAU running back Buddy Howell and kicker Greg Joseph, Notre Dame (Ohio) defensive end Claudy Mathieu, Michigan linebacker Mike McCray, Miami (Fla.) defensive tackle Anthony Moten, UCF defensive tackle Jamiyus Pittman, Fairmont State defensive end Quincy Redmon and Purdue tackle David Steinmetz.
Alston was a four-year letterwinner (2013-15; 2017) at North Carolina State, where he played wide receiver before transitioning to cornerback following his junior (2015) season and redshirting in 2016. As a senior in 2017, Alston started all 13 games and totaled 54 tackles (37 solo), one sack, two interceptions and 10 passes defensed.
Collins was a four-year letterman (2014-17) at North Carolina where he played in 49 career games with 16 starts. As a senior in 2017, he played in 11 games with 7 starts and totaled career highs in tackles (83) and sacks (2). He also matched career highs with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Davis was a four-year starter (2014-17) at Utah State. He left school as the program’s all-time career leader in passes defensed (48) and was second in games started (49) and interception return yards (227). His 11 career interceptions are fourth in school history. As a senior in 2017, Davis totaled five interceptions and 20 passes defensed, earning first-team All-American honors. Three of his interceptions were returned for touchdowns.
Gravelle played his senior season (2017) at TCU after spending his sophomore and junior seasons (2015-16) at Washington State. He began his collegiate career at Erie (Pa.) Community College. Gravelle snapped in all 14 games for TCU last year, totaling three special teams tackles. He snapped in 26 consecutive games during his two years at Washington State.
Hilland started 39 games at left guard as a four-year starter (2014-17) at William & Mary. He was named a team captain and earned first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors after starting all 11 games as a senior in 2017. Hilland earned third-team All-CAA honors as a sophomore in 2015.
Howell was a four-year letterman (2014-17) at Florida Atlantic where he played in 39 career games with 16 starts. He totaled 463 career carries for 2,424 yards (5.2 avg.) and 22 touchdowns. His best season at FAU came as a junior in 2016, when he played in 12 games with 10 starts and carried the ball 168 times for 833 yards (5.0 avg.) and 13 touchdowns. He attended Coral Gables High School where he was named first-team All-Dade County as a senior in 2013.
Joseph was a four-year letterman (2014-17) at FAU and finished his career as the school’s all-time leader in scoring (336), field goals (57) and extra points (165). He earned honorable mention All-Conference USA honors as both a junior (2016) and senior (2017) after converting 71.4 percent of his field goals in both seasons. Joseph attended American Heritage Delray where he earned All-American and all-state honors as a kicker, and also earned all-state honors in soccer.
Mathieu was a four-year starter (2014-17) at Notre Dame College in Euclid, Ohio. He played in 42 career games with 39 starts. He is the school’s all-time career leader in sacks (26) and tackles for loss (43.5), tied for the school record in forced fumbles (5) and fourth in tackles (191). Mathieu earned first-team All-Mountain East Conference honors as a junior (2016) and senior (2017).
McCray was a three-year letterman (2014; 2016-17) and two-year starter at Michigan. He played in 37 career games with 25 starts, totaling 162 tackles (87 solo), 9.5 sacks, two interceptions, 12 passes defensed and one forced fumble. McCray was named a team captain as a senior in 2017 and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors as a junior (2016) and senior (2017).
Moten was a four-year letterman (2014-17) at the University of Miami, where he played in 45 career games with four starts. He totaled 38 tackles (14 solo), 1.5 sacks and one pass defensed during his career. Moten played high school football at St. Thomas Aquinas, earning first-team All-Broward County and third-team all-state honors as a senior in 2013.
Pittman lettered four seasons (2014-17) and started three at Central Florida, playing in 49 career games with 33 starts. He was named first-team All-American Athletic Conference as a senior in 2017 after he started 12 games and totaled 47 tackles (24 solo) and 4.5 sacks. Pittman also earned second-team All-AAC honors as a junior in 2016.
Redmon was a four-year starter (2014-17) at Fairmont State. He played in 38 career games with 36 starts and totaled 169 tackles (93 solo), 19 sacks, eight passes defensed, four forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries. Redmon was named the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2016 after he totaled 52 tackles (23 solo), 12 sacks, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one blocked kick.
Steinmetz started one season (2017) at Purdue as a graduate transfer from Rhode Island. He earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors as a senior in 2017 after starting all 13 games at right tackle. Steinmetz played in 33 games with 31 starts during his three seasons (2014-16) at Rhode Island.

Miami Dolphins waive Howard
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have waived/failed physical cornerback Tracy Howard.
Howard joined the Dolphins practice squad on Dec. 21, 2017. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Cleveland on May 5, 2016 and played in 15 games with three starts for the Browns that season. Howard has totaled 16 career tackles (12 solo), one pass defensed and four special teams tackles. He was a four-year letterman (2012-15) and two-year starter at the University of Miami and attended Miramar High School.

Miami Dolphins Host Football Clinic for Davie, Hallandale Beach and North Miami Beach Police Athletic/Activities League Chapters
North Miami Beach, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins yesterday hosted a football clinic for the Davie, Hallandale Beach and North Miami Beach Police Athletic/Activities League (PAL) chapters at Mishcon Park. Dolphins safety Walt Aikens and Junior Dolphins coaches led elementary and middle school participants through fundamental football drills in a fun and safe environment. Aikens also recently was named a National PAL spokesperson.
“I grew up a PAL kid, so I felt like it’s my duty to come back, give back to the community and show PAL kids that if they keep their hard work up and are dedicated then they could succeeded in anything,” Aikens said.
“We at the City of North Miami Beach can’t thank the Dolphins enough. It has been awesome. The Dolphins organization has stepped up,” North Miami Beach Vice Mayor Beth E. Spiegel. “These are our kids. They’re not just North Miami Beach kids. There are kids from the surrounding areas. There are no words. It’s so amazing that (the Dolphins) came out here and are giving our children this opportunity.”

Miami Dolphins awarded Petty off waivers
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have been awarded quarterback Bryce Petty off waivers from the New York Jets.
Petty is entering his third NFL season after playing his first two years (2016-17) with the Jets. He has played in 10 career games and made seven starts, completing 130-of-245 passes (53.1 pct.) for 1,353 yards and four touchdowns. Petty originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (103rd overall) by the Jets in the 2016 NFL draft.

Miami Dolphins, Cornerback Tracy Howard and Wide Receiver Malcolm Lewis Surprise Miramar High School Football Team with Equipment Donation
Miramar, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today surprised the Miramar High School football team with new football equipment for its program. Dolphins players and Miramar alumni Tracy Howard and Malcolm Lewis were on hand for the surprise. The donated equipment included Dolphins branded footballs, Gatorade coolers, sleds, blocking shields and cleats. Tod Creneti from the Positive Coaching Alliance also presented to the team about the importance of working together to achieve a common goal.
“It feels great to come out here and put a smile on these kids’ faces. They definitely need the equipment,” Howard said. “If I can say anything, it’s a blessing to be in this position and be able to give back with Malcolm knowing these are the stomping grounds we played on and came up on and this is one of the first places that it started for us.”
“I want to thank the Dolphins organization. It has been a blessing for us so we can be a blessing to our school to give back and donate equipment, shoes, everything that the kids need to better their season this year,” Lewis said.
“I came in 2008 with Malcolm and Tracy and they started on JV. That was my first year coaching, and I’m proud to see how both of those young men have grown into the next level and are giving back to our kids,” Miramar High School Head Football Coach A.J. Scott said. “We need this. We don’t have a lot of equipment to compete, so we really need this and we really appreciate it. Anything from the Dolphins, if it’s something small as one pair of cleats, we appreciate it.”
“It was a good, life-changing experience. We got to see equipment that we may never had got to see a day in our life today. The sleds (will help me) with press coverage and getting off blocks.” Miramar High School Junior cornerback Clifton Miller said. “It’s good that the Dolphins actually look around the community and see how it is and pick schools out and give back.”
