Miami Dolphins re-sign Riley

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have re-signed linebacker Duke Riley.

Riley joined the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent from Philadelphia on March 22, 2021. He played in 16 games with three starts for the Dolphins last year, totaling 21 tackles (13 solo) and five special teams stops (three solo). He also blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown in the Week 12 win vs. Carolina. Riley spent time with Atlanta (2017-19) and Philadelphia (2019-20). He originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick (75th overall) by Atlanta out of LSU in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Miami Dolphins re-sign Ogbah

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have re-signed defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah.

Ogbah joined the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent on March 21, 2020. He’s appeared in all 33 games with 23 starts in his two seasons (2020-21) with Miami, totaling 83 tackles (51 solo), 18.0 sacks, 17 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. In 2021, Ogbah posted 12 passes defensed, the most by any NFL defensive lineman since 2016. His 18.0 sacks over the past two seasons are tied for fifth among all NFL defensive linemen during that span and are the most by a Dolphins player in two consecutive seasons since Cameron Wake had 22.0 sacks from 2016-17. His 45 quarterback hits since 2020 are also tied for fifth among NFL defensive linemen. Ogbah originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick (32nd overall) by Cleveland out of Oklahoma State in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Miami Dolphins re-sign Williams

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have re-signed wide receiver Preston Williams.

Williams has spent three seasons (2019-21) with Miami after joining the team as an undrafted college free agent out of Colorado State on May 9, 2019. He’s played in 24 career games with 17 starts, totaling 56 receptions for 787 yards (14.1 avg.) and seven touchdowns. As a rookie in 2019, Williams totaled 32 receptions for 428 yards (13.4 avg.) and three touchdowns before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 9. At the time of the injury, Williams’ 32 receptions were tied for the most by any NFL rookie that season.

Dolphins place second-round tender on Needham

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced that they have placed a second-round tender on cornerback Nik Needham.

Needham has played in 45 career games with 22 starts for the Dolphins over the past three seasons (2019-21). He has totaled 171 tackles (125 solo), three sacks, six interceptions, 23 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. In 2021, Needham played in all 17 games with 5 starts and also scored his first touchdown on an interception return at New Orleans in Week 16. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent out of UTEP with Miami on May 9, 2019.

Miami Dolphins tender 2 exclusive rights free agents

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced that they have tendered the following exclusive rights free agents: running back Salvon Ahmed and defensive back Elijah Campbell.

Ahmed was promoted from Miami’s practice squad on Oct. 9, 2020 and has played in 18 games with 4 starts for the Dolphins over the past two seasons (2020-21). He has totaled 129 carries for 468 yards (3.6 avg.) and 3 touchdowns, while adding 23 receptions for 178 yards (7.7 avg.). Ahmed originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with San Francisco on May 1, 2020.

Campbell was awarded to the Dolphins off waivers on Sept. 1, 2021. He played in 7 games for Miami, totaling 2 solo special teams tackles. During his NFL career, Campbell has played in 10 total games for Miami and the N.Y. Jets. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Cleveland on May 4, 2018.

Miami Dolphins place franchise tag on Gesicki

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have placed the franchise tag on tight end Mike Gesicki.

Gesicki has played in 64 games with 30 starts for the Dolphins after joining the team as a second-round pick (42nd overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s totaled 199 career receptions for 2,255 yards (11.3 avg.) and 13 touchdowns. His 2,255 receiving yards and 199 receptions rank third in Dolphins history among tight ends. In 2021, Gesicki tied the franchise’s single-season tight end receptions record with 73. His 780 receiving yards last year were 11 yards shy of the team’s tight end record.
