Miami Dolphins sign Sieler to contract extension
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed defensive tackle Zach Sieler to a contract extension through the 2026 season
Sieler was awarded off waivers to Miami from Baltimore on Dec. 5, 2019. Since then, he has appeared in 53 games with 33 starts, totaling 188 tackles (107 solo), 10.0 sacks, nine passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In 2022, he finished the season tied for fifth among all NFL defensive tackles with a career-high 70 tackles (41 solo). He also had career highs in passes defensed (4) and forced fumbles (2) and matched his career best with 3.5 sacks. Sieler played at Ferris State and was a seventh-round pick (238th overall) by Baltimore in the 2018 NFL Draft.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed defensive tackle Jamal Woods.
Woods originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Indianapolis on May 8, 2023 and was waived on Aug. 1, 2023. He played collegiately at Illinois, where he appeared in 48 games with 18 starts over six seasons (2017-22). He earned BTN.com All-Freshman Team honorable mention honors in 2017 after recording 24 tackles (12 solo) and 3.5 tackles for loss.

Miami Dolphins make roster moves
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed linebacker A.J. Johnson, waived linebacker Mike Rose and waived/injured safety Myles Dorn.
Johnson has played in 39 career games with 34 starts after spending four seasons with Denver (2018-21) and one with Seattle (2022). He has recorded 252 career tackles (143 solo), 4.5 sacks, one interception, eight passes defensed, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Johnson also played in an NFC Wild Card game last season with Seattle. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Denver on Aug. 13, 2018 after playing collegiately at Tennessee.
Dorn signed with Miami on Aug. 3, 2023 and has played in 14 career games, all with Minnesota (2021-22). He’s totaled five career special teams tackles (2 solo). Dorn spent all of 2021 and 2022 with Minnesota after signing with the Vikings as an undrafted college free agent on April 27, 2020. He spent this past offseason program with Carolina. Dorn played collegiately at North Carolina, where he was an honorable mention All-ACC selection as a senior in 2019.
Rose signed with Miami on Aug. 3, 2023 after playing for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL this past spring, appearing in eight games with six starts and totaling 35 tackles (15 solo). He spent the 2022 offseason and training camp with Kansas City after signing with the Chiefs as an undrafted college free agent on May 9, 2022. Rose played collegiately at Iowa State, where he was a first-team All-American and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2020.

Miami Dolphins activate Conner off PUP
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have activated tight end Tanner Conner off the physically unable to perform list.
Conner appeared in 13 games as a rookie for Miami in 2022. He joined the team as an undrafted college free agent from Idaho State on May 13, 2022, where he was a first-team All-Big Sky selection at wide receiver in the spring of 2021. Conner also earned all-conference honors in track and field. He transitioned to tight end when he was signed by the Dolphins last year.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed quarterback James Blackman and waived/injured cornerback Tino Ellis.
Blackman signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 12, 2023 before being waived on Aug. 7, 2023. He started 11 games for Arkansas State last year, completing 223-of-347 passes (64.3 pct.) for 2,471 yards and 14 touchdowns. Prior to Arkansas State, Blackman started games in four different seasons (2017-20) for Florida State. He finished his collegiate career with 9,260 passing yards and 65 touchdowns. Blackman is from South Bay, Florida and played high school football at Glades Central.
Ellis signed to Miami’s practice squad on Oct. 10, 2022 after spending most of training camp with the Dolphins. He also spent time on Miami’s practice squad in 2020 and 2021. In the spring of 2022, Ellis played for the USFL’s Michigan Panthers, appearing in nine games and recording 35 tackles (26 solo) and one interception. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with New Orleans on April 29, 2020 following a collegiate career at Maryland.

Miami Dolphins make roster moves
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed wide receiver Keke Coutee and defensive back Jamal Perry and waived/injured cornerback Mark Gilbert and wide receiver Freddie Swain.
Coutee has played in 33 career games with 10 starts, spending time with Houston (2018-20) and Indianapolis (2021-22). He’s recorded 85 receptions for 966 yards (11.4 avg.) and four touchdowns. Coutee also has five carries for 14 yards (2.8 avg.) and one touchdown, five kickoff returns for 97 yards (19.4 avg.) and 24 punt returns for 200 yards (8.3 avg.). He originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (103rd overall) by Houston in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Perry has played in 31 games with seven starts for the Dolphins over three seasons (2019-21) and spent time on Miami’s practice squad in 2022. He’s totaled 72 tackles (47 solo), one interception and seven passes defensed. Perry played in four games for the Dolphins in 2021, making two special teams tackles, before being placed on injured reserve on Nov. 23, 2021. He first joined the team on Feb. 15, 2019. Perry originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Philadelphia on May 11, 2017 and played collegiately at Iowa State.
Gilbert was signed by Miami on Aug. 4, 2023. He has played in eight career games, all with Detroit in 2021, and recorded three tackles (two solo), one pass defensed and one forced fumble. Gilbert was most recently with the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL, where he totaled 33 tackles (29 solo) and led the league with four interceptions. He played collegiately at Duke and signed with the Steelers as an undrafted college free agent on May 2, 2021.
Swain signed back with the Dolphins on March 15, 2023. He spent most of the 2022 season on Miami’s practice squad and appeared in one game before he was signed by Denver, where he played in three contests with one start, catching four passes for 74 yards (18.5 avg.). In Swain’s career, he’s appeared in 37 contests with 10 starts and has 42 receptions for 576 yards (13.7 avg.) and six touchdowns. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (214th overall) by Seattle in the 2020 NFL Draft following a collegiate career at Florida.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed cornerback Parry Nickerson and waived quarterback James Blackman.
Nickerson has played in 25 career games with three starts, totaling 23 tackles (19 solo), one pass defensed and five special teams stops (four solo). He has appeared in games with the N.Y. Jets (2018), Jacksonville (2019), Green Bay (2020) and Minnesota (2021). Nickerson also spent time with Minnesota’s practice squad in 2022. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (179th overall) by the N.Y. Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft after playing collegiately at Tulane.
Blackman signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 12, 2023. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand and waived defensive tackle Anthony Montalvo.
Hand has appeared in 31 career games with 11 starts, having played for Detroit (2018-21) and Tennessee (2021-22). Entering his sixth NFL season, Hand has 54 career tackles (39 solo), 3.0 sacks, two passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (114th overall) by Detroit in the 2018 NFL Draft. Hand played collegiately at Alabama where he played on the same defensive line as current Dolphins teammate Raekwon Davis.
Montalvo signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 12, 2023. He played in 57 collegiate games with 36 starts over five seasons (2017-22) with UCF. A former walk-on, Montalvo earned a scholarship during his sophomore season in 2019. He totaled 130 career tackles (64 solo), 6.0 sacks, four passes defensed and one forced fumble with the Knights.
