Miami Dolphins Release Overton From Practice Squad
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have released long snapper Matt Overton from the practice squad.
Overton has appeared in 142 career games in 11 seasons with Indianapolis (2012-16), Jacksonville (2017-18), Tennessee (2020), L.A. Chargers (2021), Dallas (2022) and Miami (2024), totaling 17 special teams tackles (nine solo). He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and has played in nine postseason games with Indianapolis (2012-14), Tennessee (2020) and Dallas (2022). Overton appeared in three contests in 2024 with Miami in Weeks 7, 8 and 9. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2007 with Seattle, where he spent training camp. Overton spent time with the Tri-Cities Fever (2008) of the National Indoor Football League, as well as with the Florida Tuskers (2009) and Omaha Nighthawks (2010) of the United Football League. Overton played collegiately at Western Washington (2005-06), where he was a team captain and a two-year starter at defensive end and long snapper. He attended Diablo Valley College (2003-04) before transferring to Western Washington.

Miami Dolphins Make Roster Moves
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have elevated defensive tackle Neil Farrell and long snapper Matt Overton to the active roster for Sunday’s game.
Farrell has appeared in 13 career games with Las Vegas (2022), Kansas City (2023) and Miami (2024), recording 13 tackles (four solo), one pass defensed and two tackles for loss. He appeared in Miami’s Week 8 contest against Arizona. Farrell originally entered the league as a fourth-round selection (126th overall) by Las Vegas in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at LSU (2017-2021), where he appeared in 52 career games with 21 starts and recorded 144 tackles (55 solo), 7.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and five passes defensed.
