New York, N.Y. — Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross assisted players who have shown interest in areas such as real estate, technology, business operations, business development and investing. On February 27 – March 3, 16 current Dolphins players paid their way to New York to take part in a business combine with the help of the team’s player engagement department. The weeklong event, the first of its kind for a professional franchise, featured a who’s who of entrepreneurs. Players had the opportunity to speak with and gain valuable advice from Ross, Equinox CEO Harvey Spevak, LRMR Management Maverick Carter, Co-Owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils Michael Rubin and Co-Founder & Co-CEO of Warby Parker Dave Gilboa. In addition, Pro Basketball Hall of Famer David Robinson participated in a video chat. Players also had the opportunity to sit in on a weekly development meeting at Related; tour Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States and the largest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center; and RSE Ventures, a sports and entertainment firm founded by Ross and Matt Higgins.

Quotes
Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross
“As an owner, I have the responsibility to develop them as great football players, to prolong their careers, but also it’s a responsibility to make sure they are developed when their careers are over. I know from my business career, the better you treat people — the better the organization you have and you attract the best. That’s all part of it and everyone wins in a situation like that.”
Cameron Wake
“I know the reality of being a football player. It’s not forever. At the same time, I’ve had a tremendous career playing for the Miami Dolphins as long as I have. But you know every peer that you graduated from high school with or even if you graduated from college with, they’ve started. The same way I progressed in my career, they’ve progressed in theirs. Whether it be real estate, venture capitalism or whatever it may be.. The things the Miami Dolphins and the NFL present, I can use those things and leverage that time I have now so that I can do my best to be able to make that transition smoothly. And truth be told, talking to other guys that have been doing this, they have a master’s degree. I may have a master’s degree in football, they might have a master’s degree in whatever their career is. So being here and being with the best of the best and learning from people who I’m sure there are guys out there in the real estate field who would love to be sitting down, elbow to elbow, having a meal with a guy like Stephen Ross and here I am doing it because of the situation that I am with the Miami Dolphins. I am able to relish this opportunity that is presented and making the most of it.”
