Miami Dolphins make roster moves
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have elevated tight end Chris Myarick and defensive end Tyshun Render as COVID-19 replacements for Sunday’s game. The team also elevated running back Elijah McGuire for tomorrow’s contest and placed running back Myles Gaskin on the reserve/COVID-19* list.
Myarick made his NFL debut in Week 10 vs. the L.A. Chargers but did not record any statistics. He has spent each of the past two seasons on Miami’s practice squad after entering the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Dolphins on May 9, 2019. Myarick was a four-year letterman (2015-18) and two-year starter at Temple.
Render made his NFL debut in Week 5 at San Francisco but did not record any statistics. He’s spent the entire season on Miami’s practice squad after entering the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Dolphins on April 29, 2020. He was a four-year letterman (2016-19) and one-year starter at Middle Tennessee State, where he played in all 51 games in his career.
McGuire joined the Dolphins practice squad on Dec. 9, 2020. He’s played in 24 NFL games with five starts over two seasons (2017-18) with the N.Y. Jets. In his career, McGuire has totaled 180 carries for 591 yards (3.3 avg.) and four touchdowns, along with 36 receptions for 370 yards (10.3 avg.) and two touchdowns. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (188th overall) by the Jets in the 2017 NFL draft.
Gaskin has played in 14 career games with five starts, including eight games with six starts this season. During the 2020 campaign, Gaskin has totaled 121 carries for 477 yards (3.9 avg.) and two touchdowns. He’s also caught 32 passes for 249 yards (7.7 avg.). He originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick (234th overall) by Miami in the 2019 NFL draft after a standout career at Washington, where he left the school as the program’s all-time leading rusher (5,323 yards).
*This new reserve list category was created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons. If a player falls into either of these categories, their club is required to immediately place the player on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Per agreed upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on a player’s medical status other than referring to roster status. Clubs may not disclose whether a player is in quarantine or is positive for COVID-19.
