Miami Dolphins Make Roster Moves
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have activated linebacker Jaelan Phillips off the physically unable to perform list and signed linebackers David Anenih and Wyatt Ray. Additionally, the team placed linebackers Grayson Murphy and Cam Brown on the reserve/injured list.
Phillips has played in 42 games with 26 starts with Miami during three seasons (2021-23), totaling 146 tackles (88 solo), 22.0 sacks, one interception, five passes defensed, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. In 2023, he played in eight games with six starts, totaling 43 tackles (28 solo), 6.5 sacks, one interception and two passes defensed before suffering a season-ending injury. Phillips was selected in the first round (18th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft by Miami after finishing his collegiate career at the University of Miami.
Anenih entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Tennessee on May 13, 2022. He spent time with Atlanta in 2022 after spending training camp with the Titans and being part of Tennessee and Pittsburgh’s practices squads. Anenih also spent training camp with Arizona in 2023. He played collegiately at Houston, where he spent five seasons (2017-2021) and recorded 99 tackles (57 solo), 20.0 sacks, seven passes defensed, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
Ray is a three-year veteran who has appeared in 23 career games with Tennessee (2020, 2022), Cincinnati (2021) and Denver (2022). He has recorded 18 tackles (8 solo), 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble. He also spent time on practice squads with Houston (2019), N.Y. Jets (2019) and Jacksonville (2022). Ray entered the NFL with Cleveland in 2019 and spent training camp with the Browns that year. He played collegiately at Boston College, where he spent four seasons (2015-18) and recorded 114 tackles (47 solo), 16.5 sacks, one interception, three passes defensed and one forced fumble.
Brown signed with Miami as an unrestricted free agent on April 17, 2024. He played in 60 career games in four seasons with the N.Y. Giants (2020-23), totaling six tackles (five solo) and two forced fumbles. He’s also recorded 29 special teams tackles (19 solo) and has appeared in two postseason games. Brown originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (183rd overall) by the N.Y. Giants in the 2020 NFL Draft following a collegiate career at Penn State.
Murphy signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent out of UCLA on May 10, 2024. He spent his final two years (2022-23) at UCLA earning third-team All-Pac 12 honors in 2022 and was an honorable mention All-Pac 12 recipient last season. He appeared in 26 games with 14 starts and recorded 58 tackles (40 solo), 10.0 sacks, two passes defensed and two forced fumbles with the Bruins. Prior to UCLA, Murphy played three seasons (2019-21) at North Texas where he posted 57 tackles (25 solo), 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery during his time with the Mean Green. He earned third-team All-Conference USA honors in 2021.
