Miami Dolphins make roster moves

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have placed offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg on injured reserve and activated offensive lineman Austin Jackson off injured reserve. The team also released quarterback Reid Sinnett from the practice squad.

Eichenberg was a second-round pick (42nd overall) by the Dolphins in the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s played in 25 career games with 24 starts – 14 at left tackle, eight at left guard and two at right tackle. He started all eight games at left guard for Miami this season. Eichenberg played at Notre Dame, where he started 38 consecutive games at left tackle to finish his collegiate career.

Jackson has played in 31 career games with 29 starts for the Dolphins. He started the Week 1 game vs. New England at right tackle before being placed on injured reserve on Sept. 16, 2022. Previously, Jackson made 15 starts at left tackle and 13 starts at left guard. He originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick (18th overall) by Miami in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Sinnett signed with Miami’s practice squad on Oct. 3, 2022. He also spent parts of the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the Dolphins before he was awarded off waivers to Philadelphia on Oct. 25, 2021, where he remained for the duration of the 2021 campaign. He first joined Miami’s practice squad on Sept. 14, 2020 and originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Tampa Bay on May 4, 2020. Sinnett played collegiately at San Diego.

Miami Dolphins make 2 elevations for Sunday’s game

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have elevated safety Verone McKinley III and wide receiver Braylon Sanders to the active roster for Sunday’s game.

McKinley made his NFL debut last week, making one solo tackle in the win vs. Pittsburgh. He first signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 13, 2022 and has spent the season on the practice squad. He was also elevated for the Week 1 game vs. New England but did not appear in the contest. McKinley was a three-year starter (2019-21) at Oregon and earned first-team All-American and first-team All-Pac 12 honors as a junior in 2021. He started all 14 games that season, recording 77 tackles (44 solo), six interceptions, 12 passes defensed and one forced fumble. In McKinley’s collegiate career, he recorded 11 interceptions in 38 games.

Sanders first signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted college free agent on May 13, 2022 and has spent the season on Miami’s practice squad. He was a five-year letterman (2017-21) for Mississippi, where he played in 46 games with 18 starts. As a graduate in 2021, he played in 12 games with 10 starts, totaling 24 receptions for 549 yards (22.9 avg.) and four touchdowns. His 22.9 receiving average led the SEC and was third nationally.

Miami Dolphins make practice squad move

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed offensive lineman Grant Hermanns to the practice squad.

Hermanns joins the Dolphins after spending the past two seasons on the N.Y. Jets’ practice squad. He was elevated three times this season, appearing in two games. Hermanns originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Jets on May 2, 2021. He was a four-year starter (2017-20) at Purdue.

Miami Dolphins make roster moves

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have placed safety Brandon Jones on injured reserve. The team also placed wide receiver Freddie Swain on the practice squad/injured list and signed wide receiver Calvin Jackson and defensive back Jamal Perry to the practice squad.

Jackson was signed as an undrafted college free agent by the N.Y. Jets on May 9, 2022 and spent the offseason program and training camp with them. Jackson was a second-team All-Pac 12 selection at Washington State in 2021, registering 66 receptions for 987 yards (14.9 avg.) and seven touchdowns. Jackson is the son of former Dolphins safety Calvin Jackson, who played in 75 games with 57 starts in six seasons (1994-99) with the team. A Fort Lauderdale native, Jackson played high school football at Coral Springs Charter.

Jones has played in 38 games with 24 starts for the Dolphins since he was a third-round pick (70th overall) by the team in the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s totaled 184 career tackles (111 solo), 8.0 sacks, one interception, five passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Jones leads all NFL defensive backs with 7.0 sacks since 2021. He played collegiately at Texas.

Perry has played in 31 games with seven starts for the Dolphins over three seasons (2019-21). He’s totaled 72 tackles (47 solo), one interception and two passes defensed. Perry played in four games for the Dolphins in 2021, making two special teams tackles, before being placed on injured reserve on Nov. 23, 2021. He first joined the team on Feb. 15, 2019. Perry originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Philadelphia on May 11, 2017 and played collegiately at Iowa State.

Swain has been on Miami’s practice squad since Sept. 2, 2022. He entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (214th overall) by Seattle in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played in all 33 games with nine starts over the past two seasons (2020-21) with the Seahawks, totaling 38 receptions for 502 yards (13.2 avg.) and five carries for 32 yards (6.4 avg.). Swain also returned 22 punts for 189 yards (8.6 avg.) and six kickoffs for 137 yards (22.8 avg.). He played collegiately at Florida.

Miami Dolphins make roster moves

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed offensive lineman Brandon Shell to the active roster. They have also elevated safety Verone McKinley III and defensive lineman Ben Stille to the active roster for Sunday’s game.

McKinley first signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 13, 2022 and has spent the season on the practice squad. He was elevated for the Week 1 game vs. New England and was active but did not appear in the contest. McKinley was a three-year starter (2019-21) at Oregon and earned first-team All-American and first-team All-Pac 12 honors as a junior in 2021. He started all 14 games that season, recording 77 tackles (44 solo), six interceptions, 12 passes defensed and one forced fumble. In McKinley’s collegiate career, he recorded 11 interceptions in 38 games.

Shell has been elevated the past two weeks and started at right tackle in the Week 6 game vs. Minnesota. He joined Miami’s practice squad on Sept. 19, 2022 and has played in 72 career games with 62 starts over seven NFL seasons and spent four years (2016-19) with the N.Y. Jets and two (2020-21) with Seattle. Shell also started one playoff game in 2020. He originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (158th overall) by the Jets in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Stille has spent the season on Miami’s practice squad. He first signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted college free agent on May 13, 2022. He was a five-year letterman (2017-21) and three-year starter at Nebraska, where he played in 53 games with 34 starts. He totaled 148 career tackles (69 solo), 14.5 sacks, seven passes defensed and one forced fumble. Stille was recognized as honorable mention All-Big Ten as a senior in 2020 and a graduate in 2021.

Miami Dolphins make roster moves

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have placed linebacker Trey Flowers and cornerback Nik Needham on injured reserve.

Flowers has played four games for the Dolphins this season after signing on Aug. 29, 2022. He totaled four tackles (one solo) in those four contests. Flowers has played in a total of 79 career games over eight seasons with New England (2015-18), Detroit (2019-21) and Miami (2022). He’s recorded 265 career tackles (161 solo), 31.5 sacks, seven passes defensed, 10 forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Flowers originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (101st overall) by New England in the 2015 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Arkansas.

Needham has played in 51 career games with 27 starts over four seasons (2019-22) with the Dolphins. He’s totaled 192 tackles (141 solo), 3.0 sacks, six interceptions, 25 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He also returned an interception for a touchdown on Dec. 27, 2021 at New Orleans. Needham had played in all six games with five starts this season with 21 tackles (16 solo) and two passes defensed. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Miami on May 9, 2019 after playing collegiately at UTEP.

Miami Dolphins make practice squad move

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed running back La’Mical Perine to the practice squad.

Perine (name is pronounced la-MICHAEL PEE-rhyne) played the last two seasons (2020-21) for the N.Y. Jets, where he appeared in 14 games and totaled 72 carries for 263 yards (3.7 avg.) and two touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 63 yards (5.7 avg.) and returned two kickoffs for 22 yards (11.0 avg.). Perine spent part of the 2022 season on Philadelphia’s practice squad. He originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick (120th overall) by the N.Y. Jets in the 2020 NFL Draft. Perine played collegiately at Florida.

Miami Dolphins make practice squad move

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have released running back ZaQuandre White from the practice squad.

White has spent the entire season on the Dolphins practice squad after he signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 13, 2022. He was a two-year letterman (2020-21) at South Carolina. He also spent one year (2019) at Iowa Western Community College and two seasons (2017-18) at Florida State. As a senior in 2021, White played in 12 games with six starts, totaling 88 carries for 583 yards (6.6 avg.) and two touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 202 yards (10.6 avg.) and three touchdowns.
