Miami Dolphins re-sign Jenkins
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have re-signed defensive tackle John Jenkins.
Jenkins joined the Dolphins for a second time as an unrestricted free agent from Chicago on April 2, 2021. He also played for Miami in 2019. During his career, Jenkins has appeared in 100 games with 30 starts, totaling 192 tackles (104 solo), 2.5 sacks, four passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He’s also appeared in four playoff games. The 2022 campaign will be Jenkins’ 10th NFL season. He’s also spent time with New Orleans (2013-16), Seattle (2016), Chicago (2017, 2020) and the N.Y. Giants (2018). Jenkins originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick (82nd overall) by New Orleans out of Georgia in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Miami Dolphins sign Howard to contract extension
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed cornerback Xavien Howard to a contract extension through the 2026 season.
Howard was a second-round pick (38th overall) by Miami out of Baylor in the 2016 NFL Draft and is the longest tenured Dolphins player on the roster. He’s earned three Pro Bowl selections (2018, 2020, 2021), two Dan Marino Team MVP awards (2018, 2020) and was named first-team All-Pro in 2020. Howard leads the NFL with 27 interceptions since he entered the league in 2016. His 27 interceptions are sixth in team history and eight shy of the team record (35, Jake Scott). Howard has played in 72 career games with 71 starts, totaling 241 tackles (187 solo), 2.0 sacks, 27 interceptions, 71 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He also has three defensive touchdowns (two interceptions, one fumble return), two of which came during the 2021 season.

Miami Dolphins make trade with Patriots
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have acquired a 2023 third-round pick from New England in exchange for wide receiver DeVante Parker and a 2022 fifth-round pick.
Parker was Miami’s first-round pick (14th overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Louisville. He played in 93 games with 64 starts for the Dolphins, totaling 338 career receptions for 4,727 yards (14.0 avg.) and 24 touchdowns. Parker’s 4,727 receiving yards are sixth in team history while his 338 receptions rank eighth. His most productive season came in 2019 when he finished fifth in the NFL with 1,202 receiving yards and caught nine touchdowns.

Needham signs RFA tender
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced that cornerback Nik Needham has signed his restricted free agent tender. Miami placed a second-round tender on him on March 11, 2022.
Needham joined the Dolphins as an undrafted college free agent out of UTEP on May 9, 2019. He spent the first part of the 2019 season on Miami’s practice squad before he was signed to the active roster on Oct. 12, 2019. Since then, Needham has appeared in 45 career games with 22 starts and totaled 171 tackles (125 solo), 3.0 sacks, six interceptions, 23 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He also has one defensive touchdown (interception return). Needham has intercepted multiple passes in all three of his NFL seasons.

Miami Dolphins sign Armstead
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed tackle Terron Armstead as an unrestricted free agent from New Orleans.
Armstead is a three-time Pro Bowl selection (2018-20) and earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2018. He was named New Orleans’ recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award in 2020. Armstead spent the first nine seasons (2013-21) of his career with New Orleans, appearing in 97 games with 93 starts, all at left tackle. He has also started nine playoff games. He originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick (75th overall) by New Orleans out of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Miami Dolphins make roster moves
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced that they have released guard/tackle Jesse Davis and wide receiver Allen Hurns (failed physical).
Davis has played in 80 NFL games with 72 starts, all for the Dolphins. He joined Miami’s practice squad on Nov. 22, 2016 and spent five seasons with the team, playing all 920 offensive snaps in 2018. Davis originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent out of Idaho with Seattle on May 2, 2015.
Hurns has played in 82 career games with 56 starts, totaling 241 career receptions for 3,380 yards (14.0 avg.) and 25 touchdowns. He joined the Dolphins on July 26, 2019 and played in 14 games with seven starts for Miami that season before opting out of the 2020 campaign and missing the 2021 season due to injury. Hurns originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Jacksonville on May 13, 2014. He’s a Miami native and attended Carol City High School and the University of Miami.

Miami Dolphins acquire Hill from Kansas City
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced that they have acquired wide receiver Tyreek Hill from Kansas City in exchange for a first-round pick, second-round pick and fourth-round pick in 2022 and a fourth-round pick and sixth-round pick in 2023, pending a physical.
Hill is a three-time first-team All-Pro (2016, 2018 and 2020) and has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his six NFL seasons (2016-21). He’s also a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. Hill spent his first six NFL seasons (2016-21) in Kansas City where he appeared in 91 games with 73 starts. He’s totaled 479 career receptions for 6,630 yards (13.8 avg.) and 56 touchdowns. Hill’s also totaled 93 carries for 719 yards (7.7 avg.) and six touchdowns. On special teams, he’s had 86 punt returns for 1,009 yards (11.7 avg.) and four touchdowns; and 14 kickoff returns for 384 yards (27.4 avg.) and one touchdown. Hill has played in 13 playoff games with 12 starts, totaling 84 receptions for 1,081 yards (12.9 avg.) and five touchdowns and won Super Bowl LIV. He originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (165th overall) by Kansas City out of West Alabama in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Miami Dolphins re-sign Scarlett
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have re-signed linebacker Brennan Scarlett.
Scarlett joined the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent from Houston on March 22, 2021. He appeared in 13 games and made four starts for Miami last year, totaling 16 tackles (six solo), one pass defensed and three special teams tackles. Scarlett played the first five seasons (2016-20) of his career in Houston and has appeared in 69 career games with 26 starts. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent from Stanford when he signed with Houston on May 6, 2016.
