Miami Dolphins Announce Don Shula Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 2 at Hard Rock Stadium
Miami Gardens, Fla – The Miami Dolphins announced that they will host the Don Shula Celebration of Life at 4:30pm, Saturday, October 2 at Hard Rock Stadium. This will serve as the first public ceremony honoring Coach Shula since his passing on May 4, 2020. The event is free and open to the public with attending fans receiving a special commemorative Don Shula 347 patch. Registration is now open at https://www.miamidolphins.com/don-shula/. This event will be the day before the Dolphins Alumni Weekend game against the Indianapolis Colts at 1pm, Sunday, October 3.
The event will feature remarks from the Shula family with panel discussions from several Dolphins alumni including Bob Baumhower, Kim Bokamper, Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Larry Little, Dan Marino, John Offerdahl, Joe Rose, and Dwight Stephenson.
Shula, the winningest coach in the history of the National Football League, is the coach of the league’s only undefeated team. Shula’s record as head coach of the Dolphins (1970-95) and before that as head coach of the Colts (1963-69) is unmatched in the National Football League. In 1995, he concluded his 33rd season as an NFL head coach and his 26th season as head coach of the Dolphins. He fashioned a career record of 347-173-6 (.665), including a regular season mark of 328-156-6 (.676), and his 347 victories are the most by any coach in the history of the NFL.
In addition, Shula won Super Bowl titles in 1972 and 1973 and is one of only six coaches in NFL history to win consecutive Super Bowls. His 1972 team went 17-0, recording the only undefeated season in NFL annals. Before joining the Dolphins, Shula spent seven years (1963-69) as head coach of the Colts where he was a three-time winner of the NFL Coach of the Year award. In that span he compiled a record of 73-26-4 (.728) and advanced to the playoffs four times, including two appearances in the NFL Championship Game, in 1964 and 1968 after 12-2 and 13-1 campaigns, respectively. He became the youngest head coach (33 years old) in the history of the NFL when he was named the Colts’ head coach in 1963.

Miami Dolphins make roster moves
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have placed tackle Austin Jackson and tight end Adam Shaheen on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The team also elevated cornerback Jamal Perry as a COVID-19 replacement.
Jackson started 12 games for the Dolphins as a rookie in 2020 after he was selected by the team in the first round (18th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was a two-year starter (2018-19) at the University of Southern California, where he earned first-team All-Pac 12 honors as a junior in 2019.
Shaheen was acquired by Miami in a trade with Chicago on July 26, 2020. He played in all 16 games with five starts for Miami last year, totaling 12 receptions for 150 yards (12.5 avg.) and three touchdowns. Shaheen originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick (45th overall) by the Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Perry joined the Dolphins on Feb. 15, 2019 and has played in 27 games with seven starts for the Dolphins over the past two seasons (2019-20). He’s totaled 72 tackles (47 solo), one interception and seven passes defensed. Perry also has 11 special teams stops (seven solo). He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Philadelphia on May 11, 2017.

Miami Dolphins Partner with CITY Furniture to Surprise 48 South Florida Kids with Beds at Delivering Hope Event
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins in collaboration with CITY Furniture surprised 48 South Florida children with the gift of a comfortable sleep for years to come as part of the Delivering Hope event at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday, August 27.
In its fourth year, the children and their families were invited to Hard Rock Stadium to enjoy a fun filled movie night. Prior to the film’s screening, they were surprised in a prerecorded video by Miami Dolphins Jaylen Waddle and City Furniture President Andrew Koenig with brand-new beds that would be delivered to their homes. At the conclusion of the event, the children each received a goodie bag complete with a Dolphins comforter, sheets, pillows and more.
“At CITY, we love our community, and Delivering Hope is one of our absolute favorite events,” CITY Furniture President Andrew Koenig said. “Great sleep is everything and having your very own bed is a big deal for your health! We’re so excited to be able to give back to local kids in a way that really makes a difference.”
In a continued effort to support and impact local underserved youth, the Miami Dolphins through its Football UNITES™ program worked with community partners including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami Dade, Breakthrough Miami, Generational Cure and Special Olympics of Florida to select recipients based on need.
“We are excited partner with CITY Furniture to bring back this great event that provides memorable experiences and much needed beds for our youth,” Miami Dolphins Senior Director, Community Relations & Youth Programs RaShauna Hamilton said. “Our Football UNITES™ program is committed to empowering the South Florida community. We understand the importance of a comfortable rest as a supplement to learning and development in children and hope these initiatives will support this as they enter into the new school year.”
Miami Dolphins Chairman of the Board and Managing General Partner, Stephen Ross, along with Dolphins players created Football UNITES™ as a way to create positive social change throughout the community. The organization believes it is important to be inclusive and aware of the intersections that make up South Florida and will continue to unite groups of individuals from different races, genders, sexual orientations, identities, abilities and faiths around the power of football.
