Miami Dolphins announce 2020 schedule
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced their 2020 schedule. The team will kick off the 2020 campaign at the New England Patriots on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. Miami will open its 2020 home schedule on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. when the Buffalo Bills come to Hard Rock Stadium. It’ll mark the first time since 2014 the Dolphins have opened the season with back-to-back divisional opponents.
The Dolphins will take on an impressive slate of opponents as they’ll match up against both participants in Super Bowl LIV with a trip to San Francisco on Oct. 11 and a home date against the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs on Dec. 13. In fact, the Dolphins will play five games against the AFC and NFC champions from the past two seasons as they’ll also play the New England Patriots twice and host the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 1. Miami will play the last seven AFC champions over the course of the year, with the aforementioned games against New England and Kansas City as well as a trip to Denver on Oct. 18.
Miami’s home schedule is loaded with quality opponents as the Dolphins will take on the Chiefs, Patriots and Rams, each of whom has played in a Super Bowl in the past two seasons. Together, those three teams have combined to go 69-27 (.719) since 2018. Among other intriguing home opponents for the Dolphins are division rivals Buffalo and the New York Jets, the Russell Wilson-led Seattle Seahawks and two teams featuring top 10 rookie quarterbacks with Joe Burrow for Cincinnati and Justin Herbert for the Los Angeles Chargers.
With the AFC East matching up against the AFC West and NFC West this year, the Dolphins will play four games in the Mountain and Pacific time zones this season. In total, the Dolphins are scheduled to travel 24,424 miles roundtrip. That mark is just shy of the 25,516 miles traveled in 2016, which is the team-record for an entirely domestic regular-season schedule. Miami’s 24,424 miles will be the sixth-most in the league in 2020 and the second-most of any team not in the Pacific time zone (all mileage calculated roundtrip from each stadium with the assumption a team returns home after each game).
The Dolphins also announced their 2020 preseason schedule. Miami will kick off its preseason at Atlanta. That game will take place between Aug. 13-17. The Dolphins’ first appearance at Hard Rock Stadium will come in a preseason matchup with Philadelphia that will be held between Aug. 20-24. Miami will also host Detroit (Aug. 27-30) and travel to New Orleans (Sept. 3-4) in the preseason. Specific dates and times for preseason games will be announced at a later date.
All games can be heard on Miami’s Sports Radio 560 The Joe WQAM, the official flagship radio partner of the franchise, and simulcast on KISS 99.9 FM. Fans can also listen to the Dolphins in Spanish on Univision Miami’s WQBA 1140 AM. Preseason games can be seen locally in the Miami-Ft. Miami Dolphins Alumni Provide 35,440 Meals to South Florida Community Impacted by COVID-19
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Dolphins alumni John Offerdahl (Offerdahl’s Off-The-Grill), Kim Bokamper (Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill), Bob Brudzinski (Bru’s Room Sports Grill) and the late, legendary Coach Don Shula recently teamed up to provide free meals to first responders, Dolphins FOOTBALL UNITES™ community partners and vulnerable populations who have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Over a three-week period, the restaurants delivered 35,440 meals and Pepsi provided 65,644 bottles of Bolt24.
The program, made possible by a $250,000 grant from Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross through the Miami Dolphins Foundation, brought individually pre-wrapped meals to those in need at designated drop-off locations and also helped keep the restaurant workers employed during this time.
“The meal distribution program started at a critical time for at-risk individuals as well as local organizations, including our Dolphins alumni restaurants, and those we serve throughout the South Florida community,” said Offerdahl. “We’re grateful for the support of the Miami Dolphins to help us feed as many people as possible during this tough time and keep members of the food industry employed.”

Hard Rock Stadium to Become First Public Facility to Earn GBAC STAR™ Accreditation
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Hard Rock Stadium and the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, today announced that the global sports and entertainment venue has committed to become the first public facility to receive GBAC STAR™ accreditation. This initiative will serve as the gold standard for facilities to implement cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention work practices to control risks associated with infectious agents.
“When our fans, players and staff are able to return to Hard Rock Stadium, we want them to have peace of mind that we’re doing everything we can to create the safest and healthiest environment possible,” said Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium Vice Chairman and CEO Tom Garfinkel. “We didn’t want to create our own standard, we wanted to be accountable to the most credible third-party standard that exists. Working with GBAC ensures compliance with critical guidelines for the highest standard of cleanliness and it is our hope that other venues will follow suit as we navigate through these unprecedented times.”
In order to earn GBAC STAR™ accreditation, Hard Rock Stadium will complete 20 program elements with specific performance and guidance criteria. The program will enable Hard Rock Stadium to:
- Establish and maintain a cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention program to control and/or minimize risk associated with infectious agents such as SARS-CoV-2 (responsible for COVID-19 disease) for employees, customers, the community, and the environment.
- Provide assurance and establish confidence that proper cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention work practices are in place and implemented.
- Establish a framework for communication and raising awareness of best practices as they relate to cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention.
“We commend Hard Rock Stadium and the Miami Dolphins organization for their leadership in pursuing GBAC STAR™ accreditation,” said GBAC Executive Director Patty Olinger. “Through the accreditation process, Hard Rock Stadium will illustrate that it has a comprehensive program in place to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment for its numerous constituents. We look forward to supporting the organization and many others as facilities open following the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The GBAC STAR™ accreditation is part of an ongoing commitment by Garfinkel to make Hard Rock Stadium the leader in sustainability efforts with a focus on health and safety. Recently, he led the charge to phase out 99.4% (2.8 million) of fan facing single-use plastics in the food and beverage operation at Hard Rock Stadium starting with Super Bowl LIV.
